I'm so not gonna do it ...
Mar. 19th, 2008 07:04 pmAfter all the recent LJ news and resulting debacles and outcries I will only say this:
Despite some public opinion LiveJournal as a whole is a business and as a business providing both free, ad sponsored accounts with not so many features and paid accounts with lots of features is very user friendly. Now stopping their basic accounts for any FUTURE users is a feasible business decision.
So, no I won't go on strike.

Yo -Ho, Yo-Ho a pirate's life for me
Sep. 19th, 2007 06:49 pmAs there is Talk like a pirate day today:
My pirate name is:
Captain Anne Cash

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You're musical, and you've got a certain style if not flair. You'll do just fine. Arr!

For whom it may concern ...
Sep. 18th, 2007 10:49 pmKeep your LJ from being mined for information and statistics by Six-Apart (the company that took over LiveJournal) via Omniture. They are saying they only want to see how many and who access which pages and do not acquire any data on private entries but you'll never know. So there is a way to opt out of this whole scheme:
Got to your Admin console and type in set opt_exclude_stats 1, this will EXCLUDE you from this survey taking and mining.
Thanks to
padawansguide for the heads up.

Overreaction thy name is LJ
May. 30th, 2007 10:44 amAfter closing down or temperarily suspending both user accounts as well as comms due to pedophilistic charges in said comms and by users, LiveJournal is now overreacting. While I still applauded LiveJournal's consequent handling of the pedophile comms, now all I can do is shaking my head over some of the antics LJ is pulling due to the Warriors For Innocence shenanigans (which incidentally are on blogger.com. Anyone know if WFI ever did a thorough search through the blogger.com comms and users? I doubt it.)
ETA: The wonderful and ever suspicious
thelana looked a bit further into their pages and found some very interesting things: read here
Anyway, now LiveJournal - after closing a comm which was dedicated to Nabokov's work, esp. Lolita as well as several LJ's by Gothic Lolitas (rolls eyes) AND yaoi manga comms (fanfic etc.), they are now moving onward to delete questionable user icons. OI!!
What will be next? Certain dorama, manga and Johnny's icons prohibited?? *pets her icon of Tsu-kun and Taku-chan*
Child safety is good and nice, but this is going too far IMHO. Instead of doing a panicky purge every few years or so when someone is actually threatening to sue, keep track of certain comms and tighten the security. But this is ridiculous.
