After all the recent LJ news and resulting debacles and outcries I will only say this:

Despite some public opinion LiveJournal as a whole is a business and as a business providing both free, ad sponsored accounts with not so many features and paid accounts with lots of features is very user friendly. Now stopping their basic accounts for any FUTURE users is a feasible business decision.

So, no I won't go on strike.

As for the whole LJ strike ... this is such childish silliness. I mean those on basic accounts will keep their basic accounts, nothing will change.

As for Hero, it was my last Japan order for a while, I'm afraid. At a moment I also have to be careful about money. But, well, in this life it's impossible to get everything I want anyway... :)

Chica is doing very well, she is the first at feeding time and the first who finishes. She runs around, looking for male dogs and keeping us all on our toes. The only thing that reminds us of her illness is the almost naked throat with the long scar.

Earlier this month LJ announced that they will discontinue their basic accounts for yet-to-sign-up users. The basic accounts are those free ones with no ads but very limited features. All current basic account users won't be affected by it.
BUT! Those who have been suffering from strike-through (last year LJ, because ppl had complained and threatened with a law suit) had suspended and/or deleted hundreds of accounts that had certain interests such as pedophile, porn, child love, rape etc. listed. As they did that automatically, of course several support groups for rape VICTIMS were deleted and/or suspended as well. And that resulted in a huge outcry. LJ apologized several days after their snafu. Since then the 18+ flags have been implemented.
Some Harry Potter slash/pedo fanfic writers (all those Snape/Harry writers) have now set up this strike on Friday, so that ppl shouldn't post at all because of that basic account discontinuance. it is just a childish getting back for the strike-through last year.
