scottishlass: (HHG Marvin)
*sigh*
Ever since I have lost my old nose ring I have worn a silver one. It was okay for the first few days but then the little hole got inflamed and now with a new platinum ring it really really hurts. So I shell out lots of dough for the platinum ring so I won't get an inflammation and then this - this was not supposed to happen. I should take out the ring but then I really don't want to take out the ring ... I love my ring ... I need it ... I define myself... Okay strike that ... I'm just grumpy. My nose hurts, my head hurts (the weather changed from really hot to cold - so Hello Migraine!)

On a different note, watched Hitchhiker's Guide Through The Galaxy last night.
Even though I laughed at times, one thing that really struck me as weird was that when I had settled in to watch it, it had already finished. I really am too used to Hindi movies and their length *lol*

Summary: DO I really need to summarize? *lol*

What I liked:
- The references to the old series from the eighties. I loved the music, I loved the old Marvin.
- Marvin was just adorable, I love my manic-depressive robot.
- the set/costume design was good (I especially liked the Vorgons)

What I didn't like:
- They left out classic passages, like Ford persuading the boss of the scrap crew to lie down in front of the bull dozer.
- Too short.
- Marvin was just TOO adorable. I can already see little kids wanting him as an action figure or something.
- the British quirkyness of the whole book/series. It was there in part (tiny parts) but overall, it was just another HW production done in the UK with Brit actors.
- Douglas Adams died too early. The script (which he worked on in parts before his sudden death) does not do his quintology justice.

All in all, an entertaining movie if you don't know the books intimately. But for a Douglas Adams fan like me the movie was sadly lacking, even though the cinematography and set design was okay.
