The 52nd Television Drama Academy Awards pronounced Kimura Takuya as best actor in a TV drama in winter 2006/2007 for his role as Manpyo Teppei in Karei-naru Ichizoku. In the category for best TV drama in Winter 2006/2007 Hana Yori Dango won first place while Karei-naru Ichizoku came in second and Haken No Hinkaku came in third.

Good thing is, JE's policy of not accepting nominations doesn't include TV awards.
It is wonderful Kimura won best TV actor yet again (for the 7th time, last time was for Katagase Ryo in Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi, the first time he won it for playing Sena in Long Vacation).

Karei-naru Ichizoku

The drama follows the life and loves of one industrial family, the Manpyo clan. Daisuke Manpyo who led his grandfather's small bank to greatness leads his family like he does his business - ruthlessly. He treats his family like an extension of his business; marriages are mere business mergers for him and personal feelings have no say. His eldest daughter was married off to his right hand man; his eldest son had to marry the daughter of a business partner, despite his obvious love for another woman. For his two youngest children he already has similar distinguishable marriages in the works. His own marriage, born out of love rather than business is completely void of any feelings from his side. He had a live-in mistress who runs the family estate with a firm hand.

The drama series is based on a trilogy of books by Yamazaki Toyoko first published in 1972. It tells the story of an industrial family that makes its money with a private bank and steel works. The background is the financial and societal upheavals in Japan in the late 1960's where the whole drama is situated.
