Different Worlds Apart

What is it with Johnny's Entertainment and the obvious obsession with pirates?
Ever since Kimura started to wear his skull ring as far back as 1998 (I think I spotted that ring in a 1998 PV of SMAP) skulls and bones and stuff are cropping up among other Johnny's bands. The latest being NewS sporting pseudo Japanese renditions of pirate wear and skulls and bones on clothes.
Right before Sample Bang SMAP already sported skulls and stuff as various accessoiries be it pins, rings, chains or what not, or even skulls on t-shirts. Heck, I even saw a t-shirt from a local punk band on Tusyoshi once (Toten Hosen have a skull and bones as their emblem).
And now, two years later, it seems Johnny sees himself as Captain Johnny with his crew of young hands sailing the seven seas. Even KAT-TUN sport the piratey accessoiries now, though I have to admit I yet have to spot them on Arashi.
Though I have to admit, from all the piratey outfits, I think SMAP still looks best. *nods* yep, definitely :)


The strange things that you think of on a Monday morning :)

Today I need to get a lot of things done before going in for chemo again tomorrow. I want to get a lot out of the way, otherwise I'll be too tired and sick to do it tomorrow afternoon or the day after.
Lost another bushel of hair this morning, by the pace this is going I will definitely don my own rendition of piratey wear and wear a pirate shawl on my head - it is far too warm to wear my cap.

Finally managed to rip Kimi wo wasurenai even though the subs are still wonky but it is the best I can do :s Uploading the files atm and hopefully can post it later today. Also Gift is coming along AT LAST! I hope to have ep 4 finished by Wednesday, if not the whole bulk of the ep by tonight with only a few finishing touches on Wednesday. YAY!

And now for something completely different - though the red thread of strange outfits continues here, too :)
In June there will be another Regency event and I still don't know if I should sew a new outfit. For the longest time, I wanted a black muslin dress with white or grey lining to break up the harshness of the black and if I start now (I have the black muslin) I can finish it by June but on the other hand I have this lovely mulsin dress with these little printed flowers that I sew last year for a picnic and I think it should get a second wearing. However, as this even in June is more of a impromptu ball and evening gathering, a print is not really suitable *sigh* I could wear my white muslin and just sew myself a new pelisse for it. Decisions, decisions!

I really can't believe that Johnny's Entertainment made Kimura decline the nomination for Best Actor Award for Bushi no Ichibun! They said it is their policy that their talents don't compete in awards. WTF??!! We are talking Japanese Actor Awards here!!! I can understand that some other talents from JE can't compete with normal actors, but Kimura-san??? JE and Kitigawa are CRAZY! They'll loose their one big super star this way.

Now rumours are abound that Kimura might leave JE to join newly formed AVEX Management - if that is true then SMAP will be history as well - unless all of SMAP leave JE. (which I secretly hope as Tsuyoshi and Shingo are serious actors too who wouldn't mind getting nominated for awards or such).

With recent rumours about who is the next SMAP, I think JE has grown tired of their aging boy band SMAP. Hey, JE, SMAP has a lot of fans of ALL ages, not only screaming teeny boppers. But seriously which JE band is able to replace SMAP if it is true?
KAT-TUN? Let's be serious here, they only debuted a year ago and there are already signs of break up with Jin having a rest and Kame about to study acting in the US next year.
NewS? I decline to comment, YamaPi might excell as an actor ten years down the road but so far the band only made news due to drinking.
Arashi? Now, here is potential as their style is similar to SMAP and the voices are very well attuned to each other. Besides they might have a new superstar among them - Matsumoto Jun who has the potential to be a great actor.

I just hope SMAP won't disband, but they should get the hell out of the claws that is Johnny's Entertainment.
