Watched Arang and the Magistrate ep 13 and damn it is getting more clearer and clearer and yet more mysterious.
Eun Oh is so much in love and yet he handles himself so maturely, so bravely in the light of Arang seemingly preferring Ju Wal, that I just want to wrap him all up and cuddle him (and do other nice things to him). His 'Arang' .. OMG, LJK's voice should be registered as a deadly weapon, it kills me every time he says that.
He doesn't want to be jealous but he tells Arang upfront that he will not accept her flaunting Ju Wal in his face (I wuv you, woobie!!). He knows he is not the master of her feelings and though he regrets not making her feel the way he feels, he will not meddle with her choice nor will he refuse to send her to Heaven. He is such a great man, bigger and better than any kdrama hero I have yet come across, (though Choi Young comes close second to Eun Oh, both will keep their promises of sending their respective loves to Heaven even if it kills them). I love the fact that he is willing to lay it all on the line, that he exposes her feelings towards her without demanding anything in return. So getting testy at Ju Wal, I think that is something that can be allowed.
The fact that he wants to live in the moment, enjoy the time they still have ... it's better to have lost and loved than never to have loved at all. So amazing and yet so sad because he will be the one suffering, or will he? If he will become the Grim Reaper then he too will be in the Heavens where Arang is supposed to be (as a Heavenly Maiden?).
Even though th whole drama is called Arang and the Magistrate or The Tale of Arang, she is not really the centre of all this but simply put: BAIT! The Jade Emperor needs to punish the demon and knowing his Grim Reaper he created a back-up plan .. but there is a big flaw in his thinking, if you can't even trust a Heavenly Creature do the job, how will a human succeed where the Grim Reaper so obviously failed? But then, we know that Eun Oh is not human (anymore) is he?! He was dead and was revived by the Jade Emperor, given gifts (seeing ghosts, the fan etc.) that all help him accomplish the goal to destroy the demon.
Poor Eun Oh and Arang, they seem to be simply pieces in a game of Baduk.
