A new house guest

Since Thursday we have a new house guest ... Mihal, a 4 yrs. old rough coated Podengo Portugues. All his life he was chained and neglected. He is shy, gentle and a beautiful soul. I cannot understand how anyone would be so cruel to chain him and then forget to feed him.

He is painfully under weight, even for a Spanish hunting dog, and he doesn't know anything other than the things he has learned until now since he has been released from the chain. He is a such a sweet boy.

I simply don't understand owning a dog and not loving it. Luckily for him, Mihal has landed in clover, and his days of being unloved are over.

He is really lucky, though now he has to find a forever home (even though he is a cutie, we are full with 4 dogs). But I have no doubt that he will find it soon. He is such a wonderful dog.

So glad he found a loving home... bless this poor little gorgeous creature.. He'll be find, bathe him, walk him & feed him well, he lives in the moment! He doesn't care for the past, you'll see his happy face very soon!

He is still in foster care, we are only his 'summer camp' so to speak :) His fosters had booked a vacation apartment earlier this year and took him in when they couldn't change or cancel their booking anymore. So he is on vacation with us, which is good because he needs to learn so much.

Oh yes ... he is beautiful inside out .. and I love rough coated Podengo Portugues. Usually I'm not a specific breed lover but once such a dog, always such a dog. They are just great even though you have to keep them on a leash because they are independent hunters.

He is such a sweet soul. And sometimes he stands very still, looks up into the sky, his nose twitching and he looks as if he wonders how come his life has changed so dramatically. He still has a lot to learn, like playing with toys and other dogs.

I can't understand that as well. After all, these are sentient beings. But I'm absolutely certain that such callous ppl are also able to kill other defenseless animals and also humans.

And I'm saying that as "not a dog person"! ;-) (Not an anti-dog person eiter, it's just that I'm usually more receptive to the charms of other animals.) He has a really lovely face.

Podengos are also not your usual dog. They are very quiet like a cat inside and you can cuddle them like a bunny (esp. those long ears which are super soft).

I started out to be a cat lover, but somehow I have mutated into a dog lover :)
