This morning, the early autumn sun rose gradually through the mist and dew of a brilliant blue sky, streaked with milky tufts of clouds. A dragonfly, its body a brilliant metallic green while its head was metallic blue, hovered over the fallen apples, seeking prey. Even a few late butterflies tumbled through the warming air, seeking the sweetness of the pears.
Only a few days left where the sun will shine. It is bitter cold when the sun is obscured by clouds, so winter is only a few days, perhaps weeks, away.
