Heros de los silencio
May. 27th, 2005 04:01 amHad a Spanish night tonight ... Olly and I watched two Almodovar movies - unfortunately not my favourite one MATADOR with a very young Antonio Banderas but hey, we watched "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" and "Atame".
And even after almost twenty years both movies are still hilarious and disturbing.
You know I feel just like a hypocrite. Last night I was browsing both a German and an international Bollywood forum and came across fanfiction. Now, I love fanfiction, I even wrote missing tag scenes for DDLJ but some of the stuff I read was really, well really BAD! Not only that but the real life stuff was appalling.
So where does the hypocritcal angle come in? I just HATE SRK fanfiction. I mean PUHLEEEAZE all that infantile gushing about him and Kajol. AND badly written to boot. I have yet to come across an SRK fanfic that is both well written, spelled correctly and doesn't feature him as a two-timing bastard who leaves his real-life wife for Kajol (and her leaving husband and child) and live happily ever after. *shudders*
And the original plot stuff ... I mean can't they just put new names to the protagonists? I feel really embarrassed about all this. Okay, so I write OB fanfiction, but this is just ... to me OB is not real. Of course there is this cute Brit with the same name and some of the same biography, but the OB I write has nothing to do with the real guy.
But these fics with SRK ... perhaps it is because I really fancy SRK (His Hubbiness even said: "Hmm he is your type") and I only think Orlando is just some adorable puppy (and way too young), but does it give me the right to feel embarrassed and downright angry about all those fics which have probably been written by hormone-driven teeny-boppers with bad school education and dandruff that are around but do the same thing to Orlando Bloom? Does it sound too self-righteous? Am I going insane? (okay don't answer that :))
My conscience tells me NO! because I do the same thing with OB, but my stubborn pride tells me YES! I mean if you write about a real life person than at least be a) original b) coherent and c) SPELL CHECK YOUR DAMN FICS!
Having said all that, I really am in a tangle here ... is it really okay to maintain m.i.t.m. when I feel embarrassed to read SRK fanfic and get angry at those writers who dare to write such stuff??!! It makes me such a hypocrite and I really hate that.

Date: 2005-05-27 04:56 am (UTC)I've only come across one SRK fic and I didn't even get as far as the spelling. I just saw that it was filled with those metatags sticking out, so I couldn't even get past the first line.

Date: 2005-05-27 08:09 pm (UTC)Too bad. Because I could totally go for an over the top "Ajay is an evil gang rapist/Gauri is a manipulative ho/all their children get run over by a truck" story. Just for fun. But I have really low acceptance levels for netspeak and pure dialogue fic in general.

Date: 2005-05-27 08:39 pm (UTC)The way I see it. Since I don't actually want SRK/Kajol together (fic or real life [that actually goes for most real life pairings]), I could read a fic like that for comedic value. It's like, if it's not my pairing/not a pairing I'm invested in then darkness doesn't bother me. Since I don't take the story very seriously anyway. It's more like comedy.
If it was a pairing I was invested in, it would be different. Because I would have a certain idea of the characters and how I would want them together. So dark fic would bother me, since it would mess with characters I like.

Date: 2005-05-27 09:56 pm (UTC)But yeah I try to monitor ... though the slip ups are always there, sometimes I just can't say no to ppl, normally stuff like formatting or netspeak or something or other are always reasons why I reject a story on m.i.t.m. (htp://www.bloomingfanfic.net).
