Music for the masses ...
Apr. 27th, 2005 09:45 am... I think not!
Last night I talked to a friend of mine what kind of music taste we have and we agreed I have a weird kind of taste, ranging from classic, OST to alternative/subculture rock/ebm/goth and ethnic music.
She said and I quote here: "If you weren't such a nice person, just from your music taste alone I'd say you are psycho!"
Oh thank you very much. Just because I don't follow ever idiotic music crap I'm a psycho. I get utter crap for my music taste from the the woman who thinks MTV Club Rotation is pure music and Eminem and Marilyn Manson are the anti-christs and Tom Jones was hot when he sang Sex Bomb.
Oh well, I guess you cannot really chose your friends according to their musical tastes :)
Have Laksyha for the weekend. If it is any good I will try to get it from my local vid store. But first I have to finish my most recent assignment :s I hate it ... it's so stupid and boring. And I still don't know how to fit the age/adult registration in.
And this afternoon I have to go to the STK in Neuss again ... *sigh* I really don't want to go but as I already had a sick day on Monday, I need to go :-(
Olly is still at home and he is driving me crazy. Wednesdays are a pain in the neck, his classes start quite late and I have to work my whole schedule around him and always RUN LATE when he is here in the mornings AND I can't listen to my music loud, as Mr. I need information watches some crap on TV.
Will take a shower now so I won't run late - HE can wait for a change.

Date: 2005-04-27 08:15 am (UTC)I was brought up in a house where the standard radio station was one which played stuff from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 'the best of today' (mid-90's) and it was brilliant.
Because I was a music student, I also grew to have a HUGE appreciation for classical music - to this day, I think I can hum - by memory - all the different pieces in Tchaikovksy's Nutcracker Suite. LOL
The same with OSTs. I know my friends - even my close friends - don't understand why I like them so much. They think "Oh, pretty music", but because of my history as a music student, I love seeing the different themes which composers bring into the music, and what instruments they'll use to 'tell their story'. (John Williams being one of my favourites - his Anakin theme in Ep I was especially brilliant, using elements from the Darth Vader theme in the Original Trilogy, yet still keeping that edge of an almost-lullaby. Sorry, I'll stop babbling now. LOL)
As you can, I love ALL of that sort of music.
While I like some of the stuff of today - most of it pop, but even then a lot of that doesn't really do it for me - I'd prefer to be listening to something from the 60's or 70's. Give me some CCR or Eagles over 50 cent and Eminem ANY day of the week...

Date: 2005-04-27 08:46 am (UTC)Most stuff I listen to nowadays seems to be really driven and also cross-overs. Like AR Rahman, who blends Western music with traditional Hindi and Odissi tunes with a good beat under it that makes it very haunting. His songs almost seem like mini operas, as they have a depth to it you can't find in today's music anymore (well you can find it in Kate Bush music or Peter Gabriel and some German artists like Xavier Naidoo and Fantastischen Vier (hip hop) but that is it).

Date: 2005-04-27 09:36 pm (UTC)You'll need to read (and study) the FAQ for the different styles, and if you have a paid account, there are the s2 styles (which I use) which are even more confusing BUT easier to script IMHO.
I'll added you as a friend too :) Love your icon :)
