scottishlass: (Sewing Picnick)

Today was somehow a strange day ... getting my household ready this morning I made a list of things to do tomorrow .. like cleaning all workcounters and fronts in the kitchen as well as moving stuff around (my kitchen still is a work in progress) AND of course, *snicker* the inevitable, stupid task of cleaning the windows without leaving any streaks that come out in stark contrast when the sun shines onto the window *le sigh*. Then of course the inevitable shopping lists of culinary delights to His Hubbiness ™ tastes and preparing a light lunch of fruits and cheese for our afternoon outing.

The afternoon was delightful, whereas the morning was cold yet sunny, it had warmed up immensely this afternoon and it was quite nice to walk along the river with the dogs and then having a small picknick in the shade of a walnut tree and watching the boats merrily on their way while the dogs lazed around getting petted and cuddled and stuffed with fruit in Chandini's case (she likes all sorts of fruit, esp. bananas).

Anyway, while we were sitting and lying in the shade I remembered an old Kinks song (Sunny Afternoon) and after a short interlude of me humming it His Hubbiness ™ started singing it quietly (and quite croakingly). Good thign we were the only ones in about a kilometer around us :)
We are both so looking forward to our own house, where we will have lunches and dinners in the garden together with friends and family. We just need to know if Hubby will get the job in another state or not. Once this is decided, we will start looking for a house with a garden again. No use to find a house around here now only to sell it again in a year's time if Hubby is getting a job in another state. We will cross the bridge when we get there.

While we were wrapping up to get home again (preparing for the trip back which took about an hour until we reached the car), someone suddenly hailed us. I was quite surprised when turning around to come face to face with someone from my past. F. had been a close friend in the early nineties. We had lost contact during our university years and we haven't seen each other for about 10 to 12 years ... and yet we immediately recognized each other. It was a strange meeting esp. as a lot of memories from a certain vacation to the Provence, France in 1992 came up again. Memories I had long forgotten.

And I love to live so pleasantly,
Live this life of luxury,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
In the summertime
