When I thought they couldn't break my heart even more, they go and do it.
I am really crying here when I see how desperate, forlorn and broken he is as he sits at the river with Chiroru. Damn, I hope they are making this alright. If not for Eiji than for Shizuku's sake, she needs the father who loved her all these years and not the doctor grandfather or father who are jerks and love to play power games.
The past really casts long shadows in this dorama.
Poor Naoya.
Poor Shizuku's mom to have chosen such a jerk to be her daughters father.
But of all ppl being hurt by things done in the past, I pity Eiji the most.
Poor Eiji who took on the responsibility to care for a child that is not his biologically, to care for a child that was fathered by his friend and fellow orphan who couldn't care less. A child that killed the woman he was in love with, to stay near her, he accepted the child, to have a connection to Shizuku's dead mom.
Kudos to Shingo to portray such a diverse and difficult character, a character that sees himself as a kind of beast who selfishly stayed at a woman's side and had her have a child even though he knew it would kill her. A man who always tried his best to do what was right for other ppl and always put himself second, even though he thinks he has been selfish and needs to be punished for this selfishness.
As for Mio, I really have no special feelings for her, either way. Of course I can understand why she did what she did in the beginning, but when she noticed what kind of man Eiji and what kind of man Anzai was ... she should have gone off her passive ass and DONE something ... aren't there ethical commissions in Japan regarding doctorial behaviour? She should have raised a stink but what did she do? Nothing.
She doesn't deserve Eiji or his love, and I hope she will die of heart ache, stupid bitch. She doesn't understand Eiji at all - with her it is all about herself, she doesn't even get that Eiji sending her away is not about him not having forgiven her but that it is love that makes him send her away.
I just hope they make it all right at the end. I want Shizuku and Eiji together again, Eiji her legal guardian.
