Today I noticed that one of the major TV Channels here in Germany was showing Takeshi's Castle!! OMG!! About three months ago I told some friends that they should look out ... after the Bollywood craze three years ago, Germany is ready for another Asian invasion and I was right.
Slowly more and more Japanese comedy/game shows are showing up on German TV. And now RTL is launching a new show called enter or die (Entern oder Kentern) with a Pirates of the Caribbean theme but definitely with some weird games along the lines of Takeshi's Castle. Okay, so we had Spiele Ohne Grenzen (Games without boundaries) in the 1970's between various teams from European nations but these were serious.
I really wonder when the first (or bettersecond third) Japanese dorama will air on German TV?! (The first was Water Margin in the early 1980's - a wuxia series called Rebels of Liang-Shan-Po) and recently VOX showed Kozure Okami (Wolf with cup) from the 1970's in their late night slot.
ETA: I have this really weird feeling that we will be seeing a Japanese dorama soon, probably either Long Vacation (Kimura with German dubbed voice :() or one of the more recent manga-like doramas, like Nodame Cantabile. Just a weird feeling.
