I really hate it

I now know why so many OB fanfic archives closed their doors after only a year or so ... they were fed up with updating and/or had no space left.
It seems as we are running out of database space FAST on m.i.t.m. and the only solution so far is to get a pro in so he can fix it .. and it will cost again.

And I know there won't be many donations to help in paying for it. And I'm really asking myself why I still should bother? Why should I really? This is not a hobby anymore but a burden, if I have to pump money into this project. Jeesh this is suposed to be fun ...
After the $300 just a year ago it will probably be the same amount again, to bridge and index three databases so that the stories will appear correctly on the site. With me earning €600 per month (about $770 currently) coughing up $300 is a lot of money. But I guess I'll have to do it. I just hope my PHP guy will allow payment by instalments.

I guess I have to double my efforts to get more freelance jobs, like another porn store to set up. Why a porn store? They pay well, even though I think if I see another nekkid puss or cock I'll go throw up .. or throw something through the window.

Sounds like it's time for a change of scenery, darlin'.

I know how it feels. Updating and maintaining DOES become a chore and it sucks all the fun out of it. With you it has to be worse though, having to pump money into it and never seeing it again. :( Like some big drain.

I wish I could contribute something, but things are just too tight here at the moment... and whatever I could manage to scrounge up wouldn't be enough to make a difference.

I suppose you have to decide whether you close it down, or make a few changes - restrict certain stories, or (as I saw on MITM) deleting all the older incomplete stories which haven't been updated. Though I don't know how long that would work for, considering how many new stories I can imagine you guys get. :-\

I hope you can find a solution that works for you and keeps you happy. *more hugs*

Hopefully with the deletion of old unfinished things we gain enough space for me to get the money together.

I know no webmaster likes asking for donations. I mean, we all KNOW that visitors would complain, so as if we're going to put ourselves up for that unless we absolutely have to!

The stupid thing that the visitors don't get is that THEY'RE the ones using the site and getting the enjoyment out of it. And if they don't want to contribute, then that's fine, but then they shouldn't expect the site to remain around forever, either.
