I have always been around music. When I was a little kid living with my great-grandparents there was always music on. On the radio, on the grammophone (yep they still had one) and my great-grandmother was always singing (she was a mezzo-soprano professionally) - I was raised on classical music (Opera/Ballett) from Bizet to Strauss, from Mozart to Debussy. And of course, Celtic music, from bagpipes to uillean pipes to sinois. Then there was my great-grandfather's love for jazz and swing so a good amount of Duke Ellington and the rat pack was thrown into my musical education as well.
My mom was a The Who fan and anything classical rock from the 70's as well as The Kinks. And when I started out to buy myself music Punk was just dying off and giving way for the New Romantics (my first ever album was Dirk wears white socks by Adam and the Ants). I loved and still love early Dark Wave, EBM and Goth Rock. Celtic Rock was also big and I still have a soft spot for bands like The Alarm, Big Country and New Model Army in my heart. Sisters of Mercy - OMG I looked like their guitarist for the longest time, I wonder what has become of her?
When I started out to dance Indian classical Baghavad Natyam I started to love Bollywood tunes and the wonderful music that is created by A.R. Rahman.
And now I start a new decade and I just recently have found I cannot resist JPop.
SMAP owns me at the moment. I know it is just LA LA LA music, but damn if I don't sing along and get into a good mood. I'm planning to take it with me to my treatments. I need something fun and loud and good timey there.
Then there is Glay as well as Arashi. OH and I shouldn't forget Clazziquai which is a Korean band. Baka, deska? I don't care :)

I went to the Japanese video store the other day but it is for Japanese only - or better put, for ppl fluent in Japanese as the owners only speak Japanese and their application forms are all in Japanese as well. Oh well, I think I will get Gift from Yesasia.com then. I really need to watch the dorama and I don't care if it is raw (without subs).
I hope my SMAP Cds are in the post already. I bought several off ebay, and hopefully they'll be here in no time. Need more music :)
