Oscars ...
Mar. 2nd, 2005 12:38 pmI stayed up for the Oscars ... but strangely missed Orlando *LOL*
I loved most of the dresses but what I will never understand is that almost all women sometimes look really REALLY bad in those fabulous gowns. Either they looked too thin, too fat, or just not right in these. Don't they have assistants who tell then what looks good on them and what not?
WORST dress IMHO and showing that the old adage of a beautiful coat hanger will make a beautiful dress is WRONG: Giselle Bündchen, showing that Regency clothing without the original look looks BAD! And makes the bearer look pregnant rather than lithe, beautiful and sprite-like.
I guess the designer thought to mix early 14th century Italian highwaisted gowns with Regency gowns, but leaving the vital sleeves off. It just looks sooooooooooooooo bad ....
My favourite dress, hands down, was Cate Blanchett's beautiful yellow gown with magenta-red satin waist band. BEAUTIFUL !!!
Special mentions for Julie Delpy and Kate Winslet, both in their own rights very beautiful ladies, they both chose gowns that enhanced their beauty.
oh and it is snowing ... I mean snowing as in little white flakey things bustling at great speed through the streets almost vertical ... and it is damn cold ...
I cannot remember a time when I really REALLY detested snow so much as this year :s
