The week from hell
Nov. 27th, 2004 10:42 amI don't know why I have taken on the assignment when I knew beforehand that the author would be difficult. But then again it is good money and I tried to only see the finacial aspect and not the annoying part of the whole contract. Well it is finished now ... I worked throughout the week with the pre-final draft, checked the coding and all and hopefully, the author won't fiddle with the final draft now or change codes between now and the time his script hits the press.
I am so tired and drained that I haven't had a heart to sit at my computer other than working on the script. It is a first for me. But then this particular author is a pain in the neck and I could have tossed him out the window more than twice during this week. It seems this man didn't bother to read the prelims on his assignment. If you have to write a book about the new CSS and XML styles that can be used for web design, one expects that this is what you get but I had to whip him into shape again. Moreover, this guy's coding was so vintage, I had to give him a crash course in CSS coding first. Good God, but that was tedious. Now than ever I wish I had HIS reputation as a writer and would have written it myself. I surely could use the money he is getting.
Oh well, the week from hell's now over and hopefully I won't have to work with this idiot anytime soon. I'm just glad that it is over, done and gone.
Of course, it didn't help that I was working three afternoons out of five at the Studienkreis, but then it was okay, I have really nice students who WANT to learn so it was more of a pleasure than chore to do the teaching.
Need to dash and take a shower, I have to be at the computer shop in little less than an hour and I still have to put the computer together again (even with new mainboard and processor it is not working) and I still have to dig up the bills for the PC as it is still well within the warranty time.
