Paralympics
Sep. 19th, 2004 01:44 amJust watched the opening celebrations of this year's Paralympics and I am impressed. The audio-visual effects are stunning and yet very simple with class and style. Nothing over the top or with too much allegorical humbug thrown in.
It was a beautiful celebration, you could easily describe what was happening but there was also a mystery and harmony and emotion.
All played very well together - blind ppl could still hear the music and have them let the visual effects described to them, deaf ppl could still see the visual effects... WOW.
I particularly loved the idea of the tree of life, strength and will power in the middle of the stadium that respesented also the four elements. The visual effects (just light spots in different colours projected onto dancer all dressed in white like canvases) were amazing. I loved the water and fire (lava running down the tree and then onto the floor) effects as well as earth where the dancers where the roots of the tree. Beautifully done, with a lot of care.
Good luck to all Olympic atheletes.
