Now that storm Andrea is behind us, and have helped our neighbour to clear some of the fallen trees and shingles off his roof, we have returned to our normal work filled days. Second calendar week always means back to work for Hubby in our neck of the woods so we had to get up at 5 AM this Monday. Man, it was a drag and so unfamiliar after two weeks of holidays behind us :)

So we already had a major storm in 2012 and it made me think what I want to accomplish this year ... well, there are a few things ...

- spend less time in front of the computer
- be more creative
- do more crafting
- prepare and tend the garden well (and keep those chickens in check)
- spend more time with family and friends
- take care of my health (now that I seem to reach the official end of 5 years of remission without any setback)

What are your goals for 2012?

I never do resolutions but for some reason this year I am, so I’m all excited to share. ;) I want to get more active and in charge of my finances, I want to get off my socialist soapbox and actually DO something charitable in the real world, I want to be more regularly active, and I want to have my BF more involved with my family.

Start small :) You can donate time, money or stuff to charities. Choose anything you like and can afford.

Getting the BF more involved with the family can be both wonderful but also really annoying. My husband never had a huge family so he feels really awkward when he is around my boisterous lot. He usually bows out of any bigger event which I have to live with.

It's the opposite way with us; his family is huge and loud and oftentimes offensive (his words!) while mine is small and close-knit and intellectual. I'm the one who's usually overwhelmed by loads of new people, but I take it in stride. ;)

My main goal is to get my finances under control. *sigh* But I also need to lose weight. I figure those two are big enough goals that I'm going to try to concentrate on them and not sweat the smaller stuff, or at least not 'til I make some progress on these two.

Instead of saying you NEED to loose weight, tell yourself to live a bit more healthy.
Ever since I try to enjoy healthy food and cook what I like, pounds are very slowly (really slowly) but definitely going. But saying to yourself that you want to live healthy/enjoying food instead of saying I need to diet is half the ticket really.

Take CELTA. Graduate above the standard. Search for job opportunities abroad. Travel to at least three countries. Take DaF. Go to Germany for a while. I wish someone could tell if non-native English teachers are welcomed by German schools. I absolutely love Germany, so my plans are mostly about it :)

I don't think it is possible for a foreign teacher to teach German, unless they talk German like a native speaker. The Germans are not as anal as the French about their language but with so many foreigners now living here, they have become more stringent on ppl speaking German and also learning German well. But if you want to teach your own native language at a German school that is still not such a big problem I think. But you need to have the teaching certificate (the Germans are anal about THAT!).
