You know what really pisses me off? Not only am I born into a nation that committed any attrocity there were on the face of this Earth, but that the very ppl responsible for these attrocities still strut around in their splendour and can call up public meetings to celebrate their murderous, heineous crimes.
Today the Ritterkreuz Orden (Knight's Cross Order), a bunch of army survivors who had been merited the Ritterkreuz (the highest military merit in Nazi Germany), officially met and they celebrated their deeds. To get one of those crosses you had to be a) a higher echelon in the military army structure of Nazi Germany and b) had accomplished *special* tasks. Just for your information, Knight's Cross bearer were also High ranking Nazis like Goebels, Himmler and SS officials.
How dare they celebrate their mistreatment of civilians? Of attacking peaceful countries? Celebrating themselves for following orders as heineous and terrible as killing civilians, women and children and sending Jews to concentration camps or killing them in the open streets?
Right now I'm not proud to be German. Right now I wish those assholes would drop dead or would have never been born. Their beliefs and moralities are doubtful and should be prosecuted as crimes. They did not serve the German people, they served a dictatorial regime that MURDERED innocent ppl. Six million Jews! And about as many others.
Have they changed their beliefs and attitude in the sixty years since that awful war? Of course .. NOT! They still think they served as honourable military men. Because of their crimes committed during war times the Geneva Convention has been ratified. These were the killers and rapists and have so conveniently forgotten how they got the Knight's Cross.
All I can do is quote Heinrich Heine, born in my hometown, Jew and patron (posthumously) of my alma mater:
"Denk ich an Deutschland, denk ich an Krieg."

Date: 2004-10-29 01:48 am (UTC)I agree so very much with everything you say. I will never, never understand, how people can justify any of the atrocities of the Nazi-time or being part of any Nazigroup.
But than I will never understand how anybody can harm children, women or people who can't defend themself.
