Old dogs and new tricks

Henrietta had her first lesson in obedience yesterday before it started to snow like mad. She is a very eager pupil and belies the fact that old dogs don't learn new tricks.



She learnt *Sit!* both in sign as well as verbal.

Today it is very cold and the snow stays ... couldn't it snow later in the week for Christmas?

As a foster family we do not only feed and accommodate her but also train her with the most basic commands. This way the future family taking her in will have an easier life.

She's a beautiful lady. It just started snowing last night and we're due for about 12 inches of snow. I'm staying put.

It's been snowing here for days now and we had -13°C during day time and -18°C during night. Half of my town is without electricity atm ... we had a wee bit of an outage but everything jumped back on ... just the northern half of town is still out :(

She is a beautiful old lady and so kind and friendly. She loves to cuddle, which is amazing given the fact that she was a street dog for most of her life.

One of the things I love best about dogs is their ability to forgive past cruelties, and their amazing capacity to welcome joy and love into their lives at any time. Henrietta seems to embody these qualities most completely.

The past few years she was relatively safe as she was housed at the St. Petersburg animal shelter. Though animal shelter and animal shelter are two different things here ... sitting in a cage of 1x1 m with two other dogs is not really the Waldorf Astoria.
But she was safe as the ppl running the shelter are all animal activists and not just some ppl hired by the city.

But yeah, dogs have a great capacity to love. I never thought that Cenour would open up as much as he has. Henrietta is a cuddle monster and goes to every human without so much as hesitation (except for really tall men), she is such a kind and needy little girl. I wish we could keep her, but we are not allowed a third dog - only foster dogs :(

She is wonderful. Wish we could keep her but our landlord wouldn't allow a third dog :(
