Snurch, snurch - Away

Those who have been reading in my old blog know about my ongoing battle with the leading scifi magazine here in Germany. Last year they snurched texts and pictures off my Farscape site and didn't give me credit - they even were so dumb to keep my spelling mistakes *rolls eyes*. I raised a ruckus and at least got a mention of the URL in a follow up issue.

Now they did it again :s Not texts (though some of the phrases do have the Una touch - my German is a bit weird and easily spotted) but a wallpaper I did. *sigh* This is really getting on my nerves, and no mention of my site :s

They are really a bunch of drannits :-(

I know that the internet is pretty much public domain, but enough is really enough. Not only that fanfiction were sold on Ebay that the seller had no copyright to (on ebay Germany, and fortunately not my fanfics) but that a magazine with a reputation is doing it, is giving a bad example :-(
I'm really fed off and need to calm down before sending them an email, otherwise I will embarrass myself with yelling and issuing profanities.

oh my my, I'm so sorry about that! You can find really crazy people over the Internet. Yes, it's a "public domain" but that didn't mean that they could steal other's people texts, pictures, works, thoughts! You could always "borrow" them and giving the full credit to the real owner. All of those people are giving bad examples (like that magazine with some fanfic).

I understand that you are pissed off and that enough is enough. You should try to do something, you are right. And yes, you should try to calm down a little before sending them an e-mail. Breathe, dear Una, breathe slowly.

well I sent the email and I have now been really, really angry. I got a mail back telling ME that I should first show them if I really created that wallpaper.
Harumph ... They should be glad that I'm not anywhere near living where they have their offices, or there would be hell to pay tomorrow. I'll contact my lawyer tomorrow .s

Oh yes, Una, you really should contact your lawyer tomorrow. They can do that and got everything they want without problems. They just can't! It's YOUR wallpaper, YOUR words, YOUR work. I am with you and support you.
