Drabble no. 5
Sep. 15th, 2009 08:37 amThis might not be what you had in mind, however, enjoy :)
The snappy pop music from the restaurant's loudspeakers ground on Uruha's eardrums, but in order to fill his stomach after a long day of recording and composing, he tried to tune everything out. Fumbling with the fork and knife, he wished he had a pair of chopsticks but nevertheless he managed. Adjusting his glasses he looked up towards the door and couldn't suppress a smirk. Coming in from the cold street and eyes glued to the menu up over the counter in front, Sakito and Ruka had entered the restaurant, oblivious to Uruha's presence.
Watching them, he was surprised. He wouldn't have expected to see those two of all people. Uruha waved laconically when Sakito and Ruka turned towards him, trays in hands. Sakito grinned and nodded, while Ruka raised an eyebrow and instead of a polite greeting or a nod, just pressed his tongue against the inside of his piercing.
"Look who is here," Uruha greeted them. "Where did you two lovebirds come from, eh? I thought Ruka wasn't playing in our league, Sakito. Or are you trying to make your delectable bass-player jealous?"
Sakito sighed and put his tray down at Uruha's table. Before he could answer though, Ruka plopped down in front of Uruha.
"Cut it out, will ya? Isn't that a bit below your usual haunts, Uruha?" Ruka asked, ignoring the lovebird comment and the whole innuendo about Sakito and Ni~ya.
"I'm just eating a hearty meal after a long day of work, what's your excuse?" Uruha said, licking the blade of his knife that was dripping with semi-glacé sauce.
Ruka watched him for a moment before he shook his head. "Is he always like this?" he asked Sakito. It was no secret that while most bands, even from competitive labels, hung out together, Ruka had his own circle of friends and kept away from most usual clubs that Sakito, Ni~ya and Uruha frequented.
Sakito grinned and nodded. "This and more," he replied. "I'd never thought I'd see the day where Uruha goes into a restaurant or club where they don't sell his bubbly stuff."
Uruha opened his eyes wide and looked at both men in shock. "You mean they don't?" he asked in an exaggerated voice and signaled one of the service staff behind the counter.
Sakito exchanged a long look with Ruka and the older man's eyebrows rose.
"No way!" He said but his jaw dropped when a bouncy young girl in the uniform of the family restaurant brought a plastic cup and a baby bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne.
"The perks of being a regular customer," Uruha said and toasted the two men in front of him.
Afterwards, when Ruka waited with Sakito for a taxi, the scene replayed in his mind.
"I can't believe they had Uruha's bubbly," he commented and shook his head. "Regular customer my ass."
Sakito laughed at that.

Date: 2009-09-15 09:03 am (UTC)I love Sakito too, the calmness to him, and it's probably just my own wishful thinking but somewhere there I almost believe to detect a hidden secret bond between the two of them, almost as if this little scene is a happy facade behind which they hide that they actually are lovers in private.
I know some people will probably miss smut in this though. ;)
And Ruka... lolololol. You know about my epic inner struggle when it comes to Ruka, so... I like him here, a lot! XD

Date: 2009-09-15 09:22 am (UTC)I wanted to leave that open whether or not they have or had been lovers or close enough so that Sakito knows about all the little quirks of Uruha's.
I know some people will probably miss smut in this though. ;)
Sigh I know ... but life and fiction is not always about smut, whether it's het or slash or alien.
And I wanted to tell a story, in the shortest way possible.

Date: 2009-09-15 09:34 am (UTC)Not the queen? Sorry :) Ok, so he tries to hide it with his hideous man pants ... Hmmm... I wonder what excuse Sakito has? His Geekiness? And I can so imagine this guy being highly intelligent. Even though he ripped off Nirvana's Smells like teen spirit in the first notes of Naked Love. :)
... damn, I want to explore that Uruha/Sakito relationship now ...
You first finish the other series you still have up your sleeves, ya hear? :P
