Day at the riverside :)

Is there such word as riverside ... opposing to seaside that is? Anyway, we spent most of this day at the River Rhine again as it was very sunny and warm. We picknicked in the shade of some beautiful old trees while our dogs frolicked around in the waves.

hee hee, I guess that means I should take more pictures of him, eh? he's going in for a hair cut on Saturday morning, I'll have to take some after that. Right now he's looking VERY scraggly!

It amazes me every day how happy and at peace they look. They both come from bad homes, Cenour esp. had a very bad life back in Spain before animal rights ppl saved him from death in a perrerra.
You can't see it in the pictures but he limps heavily with his right front leg, his former owner hit him so badly he turned deaf and also got the limp and then threw him over the fence of the perrerra (it is not an animal shelter as all dogs and cats get killed after being there for 14 to 21 days without having been picked up by ppl). He now gets the best possibly doggy life for the rest of his days, hopefully for a long long time still.

It is so frustrating to see how many animals still need a good home. Being involved with animal rights makes you see how brutal mankind can be.

Here are two videos of Cenour .. the first one was taken in June 2006, in the perrerra, before we got him the following September. At first he was just our foster dog, but he is such a wonderful dog, we decided to keep him. In the vid you can see that he doesn't want to be touched and tries to hide from the ppl

Oh wow what a difference in the two vids! He's a happy puppy dog now! I'm really glad these dogs have you guys.

And yes, it is frustrating. Infuriating, really. Compared to animals, humans are sorely lacking.

So true. Some of the stuff humans do to animals ... it shames me to be called human as well.

But I'm happy, that my baby-bear now has a home with us. I still remember the first year with us, when he still expected to be hit and bullied, that he always looked at us with those sad brown eyes as if he couldn't believe that he wasn't being punished. Nowadays, he is deliberately naughty to initiate play and cuddle time. He then stubs his snout at my hand and grumbles deep within his throat. He has become such an affectionate and cuddly guy.

For us it is also good, we get out and about ... and as it is summer break it is the best way to spend the day :)

But yeah, they are happy :) Hopefully :)
