You know what I miss most on Sunday mornings? The bell ringing of the churches. Don't get me wrong - I'm not religious and left RC Church when I was 16 (you are of age of consent with 16 where religious beliefs are concerned here in Germany) - but what I remember most of my Sunday mornings are the multitude of church bells ringing for late morning mass at 10:45 AM. It was always a soothing sound.

and today ... I'm awake right now ... and nada ... one measly little bell ringing but no more and so far off you have to listen real hard to actually hear it. It's so sad in a way. But then religion doesn't play a big part in German society anymore, unless you are a Muslim.

OMG!!! Tsuyoshi is absolutely great in Ninkyo Helper ... and his voice ... even though I love his soft spokenness, his Yakuza drawl is sexy :)

I so know what you mean.
When I was living in a boarding school in grades 12 & 13 there was a church close by that rang the bells for the time every 15min and I got so attuned to it that I depended on it for the time (I never wear a watch). Then when I was working in Italy for three months the church in the village was about 200m away from me and it also rang all the time.
Now I can't hear anything but the evening mass at 19:45h sometimes and I miss it.
At home I can sometimes hear the bells on Sunday, but only sometimes, and it doesn't ring for the time.

Church bells are beautiful. I'm not religious at all and never have been, but when I was in Paris in winter 2007, they had to be one of my favorite things--especially on Christmas (which I don't even celebrate!) morning they were just so gorgeous...
