Oh shit ...

Shortly after little_witch27 was off to return home, I wanted to walk the dogs when my system just shut down ... I already fell asleep this afternoon but I had thought it was just a nap. Nothing of the sort, yesterday while being out and about on Japan Day, I drank too little and got a sun stroke. So after E-chan left, I went down, literally. I collapsed and His Hubbiness rushed me to emergency.
I got an IV with nutrition and a severe scolding not to walk out in the sun without protection (I DO wear a sun hat when walking the dogs in sunshine). Now my left arm gets more and more purplish blue with streaks of green as the orderly who put the IV in stabbed at my arm pit like it was a piece of pork.

Hubby didn't know what to do as I fell down and talked gibberish apparently (can't remember). I also felt very hot and my head ached like a bitch.

I had the same thing a few years ago ant Pennsic. Medic at the first aid tent took one look at me, put me down on a cot and stuck an IV in me. he said I looked so bad he was surprised my heat didn't stop (dehydration). My potassium was too low as well.

I remember, you wrote something about it.
I guess we both know better now. Strangely enough it wasn't too warm, but after a whole week of rain and cold it was so lovely to walk around in the sunshine and all. It was picture perfect, the first real summer day and so much to see and talk, and even though I bought something to drink I guess 2 small bottles of Calpis over a period of 12 hours was a bit too little.

Oh dear, I'm very sensitive to the sun too.
I get VERY easily sun stroke and I completely understand how you feel! >.<

I'm fine now .. hubby made me drink lots of tea and water and my headache is almost gone and I feel much better now. The only reminder of the whole ordeal is my rather large bruise on my arm :)

Oh my gosh!! I hope you are feeling better.
You should get a pretty Chinese parasol! I have ten of them - in all different colors. Never go out in the sun without one and also it makes you feel all fancy. 8D Also you can use them to mesmerize Merkats at the zoo and stuff like that. ;)

Strangely for living histor events I have several parasols but it was so lovely to be out in the sun after a whole week of rain and cold, that i didn't think of any protection. Well, next time I will.

Oh chica! I hope you're feeling much better now, but you should definitely take pictures of your arm and send copies to the hospital. The orderly definitely needs more practice before he should be allowed to poke humans again.
