Progress report #4

I am a little bit behind my prospective as we picked up a little pup from the airport tonight.
I'm still in the finishing touches of the subs. Tweaking and editing, as well as choosing which section to highlight and so on. I haven't slept a wink since Monday, but I'm so filled with adrenaline atm I think I can finish the subs by morning and put it up on
smapxmedia. Which reminds me to upload the first ep to MU already :)
But now ... here is Cleo:
Straight from Spain, this little pup stays with us till Friday where she will go into a foster family to find her final home.
Cleo is still a pup (born in January 2009) and a beauty. She looks to Cenour for guidance and does what he does, if he drinks, she drinks, if he lies down, she lies down. It is so cute. A pity she has to leave us on Friday, but three dogs, even a temporary third one is out of the question. And as charming as she is, she will end up as permanent dog, I'm sure, if she would stay longer.

So ... anyone interested? She is a Podi/Astura (shepherd dog) mix. It seems in her young age, her tail was already broken two times (her tail is *square*). She is still very shy but doesn't show any panic or fear, when she is with humans.

Date: 2009-06-03 02:18 am (UTC)I noticed that you rescued a few dogs from Spain, right? Is there some reason they come from Spain??

Date: 2009-06-03 02:55 am (UTC)Spain is THE no.1 vacation country here in Europe and while they make tons of money with tourists, they still have no normal animal shelters. Spain has so-called perrerras which are literally concentration camps for dogs and cats. Once an animal ends up in a perrerra (either because it was put there by former owners or picked up on the streets as stray) an animal has a maximum of 20 days to find a new home. As *second hand dogs/cats* are not very common in Spain (they want something shiny and new) you can imagine what happens if an animal fails to attract a new owner in those twenty days. No matter the breed, age or gender, they are put down after twenty days. And in those twenty days they are not well looked after as well :(
CAUTION - if you highlight the following, you'll need a good stomach:
Cenour is one example of bad hunter turned wonderful family dog. His first owner hit him massively ... he has hairwidth breaks all over his skull and his right front leg is stiff due to massive trauma to the knee. He was thrown over the fence of the perrerra because his former owner couldn't be bothered anymore. Cenour was more dead than alive when he was picked up from the perrerra, trauma to the skull, no hearing (due to massive puss in both his inner ears and destroyed ear drums) and limping really badly - the animal activists who try to get as many animals out of the perrerras as possible didn't give him a chance. But he made it - lucky for us.
Perhaps you ask .. but Spain is part of Europe and the European State Family, why aren't there any laws against animal abuse ... there are but are not re-enfoced by law or legislative.

Date: 2009-06-04 12:38 pm (UTC)Yeah the *shades* is what makes her so unique. She has a brown/black patch on her butt as well, making her a white dog with colour on both ends :)

Date: 2009-06-03 09:24 am (UTC)Just a heads up, I already uploaded the Mr Brain raws to smapxmedia. If you want to make your own post you're welcome to use my links^^
Girigiri have now also released the first ep softsubs.
But I think it's really cool what you're doing :D It's a super long first ep @.@ and translating is one of the best and most fun ways to learn more of a language once you've reached a certain level. (it's also work XD)
I haven't seen the raws yet so I have no idea how difficult the language used is, but hm, I'd have expected it to be not so simple because of scientific terms.
Which reminds me I should get back to my own project ^^; ep 5 is waiting for me. Curse uni.
