Knightly Maleness :)
Oct. 5th, 2004 12:16 amAnd this is how I imagined Cameron ... I really didn't have OB in mind ... perhaps subconsciously but not really while I started to write him.

Oh, OB (according to DigitalSpy) apparently popped the big question to Kate Bosworth. Millions of teenage hearts will be crushed but then again, they make a cute couple together so GO Orlando & Kate :)

He has a way of doing that....
Date: 2004-10-12 07:43 pm (UTC)Glad you found a picture that helps bring Cameron to life. The same thing happened to me with my ghost hero, Jacob. When I first started writing The Book and conceived of the character, my mental image of Orlando Bloom was of long blond hair and elf ears. :-) Imagine my surprise when he had my main character's hair. Then he started looking just like him:
Hope it's okay that I post a pic in a comment. If not, feel free to yell at me.
Talk to you later...

Date: 2004-10-13 12:47 am (UTC)no problem about posting pics :) Especially OB pics :)
It is so hard to find nice pics of knights on the net so I was happy that e-online posted that still from Kingdom Of Heaven. I need visual incentive to make my characters come alive, and most of the time after I have written an outline I make a wallpaper or coverart for my fics just to get a feel for my characters - I'm weird this way :)
Thank you for the critique, I will change the stuff you suggested. It is a typical case of not seeing the forest because of the trees. I was raised Roman Catholic and went to a convent school run by Ursulines (a sub-order of the Benedictine order with slightly different rules by Bernard of Clairveaux) and for me all the little quirks and stuff is so familiar, I forget that I can't take it for granted that other readers will know as well.

Date: 2004-10-13 04:18 am (UTC)Not weird at all! I have a whole file of pictures of people and places in The Book. Julia Stiles seems to be playing Catherine, btw. :-)
Really interesting stuff about the convent. Definitely linger more on those details... I think so many romance writers use a convent as a setting without knowing as much about it as you do. So take the opportunity to educate us, you know? Maybe take us through more of Jude's day before she's summoned, so we know more about her daily life. Something like that...
