Omo! Omo! They are really messing up the original story. If it weren't for Woo Bin and his woobie-ness as well a the cuteness that is Jin Hoon, I don't think I would watch BOF anymore ... and next week there is this stupid story line of Jandi/Makino working as a maid. PUHLEESE!!! In the Japanese version I already hated that ...

And Jandi falling for that stupid Jun Pyo again. He is so obnoxious and he and Jaekyung are so well matched. Here Jandi has a guy who is nice, gentle, rich and cares so deeply for her that he is thinking of proposing. On the other hand, there is Jun Pyo, who not only caused her to get bullied and mobbed, he is the cause she can't swim anymore, he has made her cry more than possible, his mother caused her family to loose their lifelihood, and dammit he is an A+ asshole.

To get the bad aftertaste out, I think I will re-watch Antique Bakery.

Yea, even I have to admit the series seems to be getting more f***** up now. Boo. I have downloaded Antique Bakery but haven't watched it yet. It seems good, no? ;-)

I loved Antiqu Bakery ... it is hilarious and though it cannot decide at times if it is rom com or detective story, I loved it. It is very sweet and cute. Kim Jae wook is so convincing as a gay guy, I think he is one in RL. He had just too much fun smooching the guy in the movie :) And Joo Jin-hoon is very good acting wise. Better than in Goong where I thought he was a highly celebrated coathanger for suits.

Exactly - it's insane. I cannot figure out for the life of me how they expect us to root for Jun Pyo/Jandi when Ji Hoo and Jandi not only get more screentime, but are actually functional and fun together.

Don't you think that they intentionally have beefed up the Ji Hoo & Jandi combination because in the beginning no one cared at all about the triangle? Jun Pyo was too charismatic and perfect and Ji Hoo was beautiful and stilted, but now they've swung too wide the other way.

Exactly. In the beginning of the series I would have never thought that I would say this, but I hope they veer far, faaaar away from the original story line and make this the Ji Hoon/Jandi show.

Ep 18 showed that Jun Pyo hasn't learnt anything from the whole gruesome experience. Neither has he grown up significantly nor has he developped any sensitivity whatsoever for the situation Jandi/KangSan are in. He is still an tactless bully, blind to the ppl around him and which situations they live in.

ahem, sorry for butting in, but yes, gawd-forbid there ever be a happy FUNCTIONAL relationship in a drama!

this is why I don't like SO many dramas: the girl inevitably ends up with the guy who is bad for her. I just...ghr...seriously, what message does that send to young women? over and over and over again you see on TV and in movies the girl hooking up with the guy who's verbally abusive, doesn't understand her, has no respect for her, very little in common...but somehow all those BAD things are what make them work as a couple? WHAT? WHAT? It was the same thing in Goong, which is why I ended up hating it about half way through. And I'm sure I can say the same for lots of dramas that I've dropped after the first few episodes b/c I could see what was coming down the line...

I know ... this was also the case with ISWAK, Devil Beside You, Love Generation and GOONG (whose hype I never got).

I never understood the Goong hype, either. I think maybe it had to do with all the pretty? I liked the costumes, the sets, even the concept, but Joo Ji-hoon (the prince?) was little more than a moving mannequin, hardly displayed an ounce of acting skill in the role. Kim Jung-hoon was sufficiently angsty as Yul (and super-pretty!) but the actress who played the lead was way too annoying and OTT most of the time. And the plot just...I was so pissed. I know there's a term for it, but I can't think what it is. Basically they set up the most basic and shallow of formulas, drop the characters in and then expect the audience to buy the romance. I didn't think the two leads had ANY chemistry nor ANY reason to hook up other than the paper-thin plot. They couldn't stand each other and then all of a sudden — bamm! — they're in love? It's the same sort of story-writing that plagues many dramas and makes me drop them. Urgh...sorry for the rant!

I totally agree with you ... and even though doramas are very short compared to Western series, esp. in Goong they had ample opportunity to develop a real relationship between the Prince and Princess. They could have shown more scenes of them getting to know each other and also earning each other's respect. THEN and only then the whole plot would have been convincing that they are in love.

true, true you're right, they had plenty of time to develop the relationship in Goong, but they didn't. The relationship was not convincing at all, but I still think their choice of actors was a big weakness as well. Drama producers seem to pick the pretty over the talent far too much!

Well, having seen both Joo Ji-hoon and YEH now in other roles, they are talented. Just for a first time actor both characters were too much for them to play. You got to see the progress in the latter episodes but still, they are now much better than they were then.

Esp. Joo Ji-hoo has impressed me in last year's Antique Bakery. While he is still tall and lanky, he doesn't have the aura of a mobile clothey hanger anymore. And YEH was fantastic in Coffee Prince. She is more suited to play gutsy, tomboy roles than pampered, girls types. She was really good as a boy.

I agree, the actors were just too green for the part. I wasn't overly impressed with JJH in "The Devil", either, though. Are you referring to the Antique movie? I'll have to check it out, though I haven't watched the j-drama yet. I have it d/l'd some place...

Yep in Mawang he was very stoic as well, but then even Uhm Tae wong was not at his finest, and I think the director sucked big time.

Yeah, Antique Bakery. It is a hilarious movie. Ver entertaining though it sways between bing a romgaycom and a detective story. But JJH is much better here. I think he should play more comedy than straight on drama. He gets too stiff and superficial in these.
I haven't watched the jdrama yet.

hee hee, is that chibi Junki in your icon? so cute!

NEway, I think the writer and director for "Mawang" had a lot of pressure to perform after "Rebirth" (which is still my favorite drama of all time) and they just couldn't do it. For me, the biggest problem was that they didn't get me to sympathize with the antagonist, so it didn't work.

I do have the Antique Bakery drama downloaded some place. I've heard fans of the manga complain that they shouldn't have made Takki's character the focus b/c he wasn't in the books, but, one of these days I'll give it a try since I like the other actors in it!

From what I heard is that the jdrama is quite tame concerning the patisserie chef. He is only referred to as *special* and not in a disabled sense. The KMovie milked the gay theme while the jdrama focuses on the ex-boxer turned patisser.
