Preparing for Halloween.
Sep. 15th, 2004 11:40 pmToday we received an invitation for a party that is on Halloween. A Blues Brothers party .. groan ... well I love the first BB movie, no doubt aobut it, but when I hear BB party, dress up and stuff like re-live your twen years, my gut begins churning and I have the unsuppressible urge to barf - HARD!
If it is a Halloween party then I expect a Halloween party, with werewolves, witches, elves, pirates and whatnot and not some lame party where a bunch of 40 somethings get all misty eyed and drink themselves into stupor while reminiscing about their wonder deeds during their university years.
I have decided to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner for friends so I'm hunting down recipes for the right way to prepare turkey and cranberry sauce and all this :D

Date: 2004-09-16 12:12 am (UTC)But as quite a few traditions we imported from the USA, I find it to artificial and misused in many ways. Just another opportunity for business people to make money with silly and unnecessary things. I prefer the german tradition of St.Martins day, which is not so different and by way not so commercialized.
If you need any recipes, just tell me, as my hubby is a traditionalist with turkey and cranberry sauce - english style.
