Sleepless

I should be in bed but I can't sleep ... I doped myself with painkillers and anticonvulsants as it is the time of the month again. Most of the time I can take it, but almost all three to four months the pain gets so hard to bear that I wish I'd die. Good thing Olly drove to the chemists and got me some stuff.
But man, I really am fed up with being a woman ... I wish I'd get into menopause and be done with it :-(

Aah Una, I am sorry for you - know exactly how you feel. That´s why I am not one minute sorry for finishing this chapter of my life as women a few months ago.

By the way, startet on J.D. Robb. I absolutly love the books and the charakters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also read one Nora Robertson - fantastic. Can´t get enough.
I think I need a standing order with amazon.

Soooooooooo ... what do you think about Roarke? Isn't he absolutely gorgeous (and loaded to boot) :)
I love Eve ... she grows so much in the following books, it is both painful and great to watch.
So I got you hooked, eh? Nora Roberts is an exceptional writer. Every six months she churns out another In Death novel and in between she writes mal eben a trilogy like the Chesapeake, Dreams, Sisters Island etc.

Here is a little recomended reading list:
Chesapeake Quatrology: Seaswept, Rising Tides, Inner Harbor, Chesapeake Blue
(four orphaned abused and used boys getting a chance and forming a strong family - a little ghost story thrown in but the characters are strong, even young 10 yr/o Seth. I particularly love Cameron and Ethan, Phillip is a bit prissy the series spans 20 years from the third to the fourth book)

Born In Trilogy: Born in Fire, Born In Ice, Born In Shame (three sisters finding each other and love in Ireland, Irish mythology)

Stanislaski Siblings - various books called The Stanislaskis and then with the respective names of the sisters and brothers. Long series, spans about 15 to 20 years, two generations

The MacGregors - also huge series, spans several centuries and centers around Daniel MacGregor the Scottish expat who loves to matchmake his extended family, sons, daughters, grandchildren, the lot. It's a funny read and hot smut :)

(Ian is also 18th cent, Daniel is 1960's; both in the US)

Yes, I am definitly hooked. Already ordered the next 5 books and can´t wait until there here. Actually, I like all the main charakters very much, they do come over as real - maybe not Roarke, he is too great - but absulutly enjoyable. I do like, that even though the charakters have their past and their problems, not everything they do is influenced by it and that they try to overcome this past.

Concerning the Nora Roberts Novels, I go carefully. I do like a little bit of mystery-magic stuff, but not to much. I prefer it in a reality context - like "it could be magic, but maybe there is a rational explanation". Good thing is, with all the books she has written and is still writing, there will be books galore for me to read. A very encouraging prospect.

Hope you feel better!!! I certainly will call you soon, I desperatly need help with this internet thing, but at the moment we have still so much else going on, which is higher on my priority list. I am thinking October.

I have finished Vision In Death (the latest) and can't wait for the next to come out in February.
I love Peabody and McNab :) And Mavis is absolutely Mag What I love about the story arc is that all main as well as background characters not only are well written but evolve as well from book to book, may it be Chief Tribble, Sommerset, Feeney, even Charles the LC with his Lt. Sugar, they all grow continuously.
And it is good to see Eve evolve as well and hearing Roarke say HIS COP.

Ack forgot about the Nora Roberts stories.
Nora has a strong slant of magic in most of her series. There are also stand-alone mystery thrillers, like River's End and Lawless which are just plain vanilla no magic mysteries.

I have a slight case of fibrimosis, which means I have bits and pieces of the uterus also growing in the lower abdomen area outside the uterus and they get affected by the hormones just like the uterus itself. So when I get my period, these bits and pieces also grow slightly and put pressure on kidneys, the ovaries and the uterus, hence the convulsions and the pain. As the stuff can't get out of the body before it disintegrates, it collects and every three to four months, I'm in real trouble. Then only heavy anti-convulsants and pain killers do the trick ... or a complete removal.
