Chica is not feeling well. I had to carry her home from the vet on Saturday. We might have to prepare ourselves that she won't last this month. I feel down and totally depressed. Chica has become a really old dog in a matter of days. Since her anniversary on Wednesday she has been feeling down and more than not we need to make long stops during our walks. I guess she wanted to stay till her 2 year anniversary and her 10th birthday and from now on we are on gifted time.
I will cuddle up to her now and we will just spend quality time together.

Alas, this is a reverse side of all joy and pleasure of having home pets. :( I know it so well, too, on my own experience.

Think that Chika's time in your home was and still is very happy time for her.

True and you know what .. today she follwoed me around because she was HUNGRY!!! She ate on her own without me sitting on the floor trying to persuade her to eat even the smallest morsel. She is also more active now. Perhaps it is only the last spout of energy before it goes down the drain, but I enjoy every moment of her annoying self atm :)

I am so sorry, Una. From your reports a few weeks back, I gathered that she was better - if not completly, but a little. I know how hard it is to say goodbye to a loved creature. Give her a big hug - I am sure she appreciates all your care and love very much.

Well she can only can get better as much as the cancer allows it. But she was better than the other dogs that had been diagnosed with the same cancer back in Ocotber.
Six weeks ago she had the suergery on her lymphnodes at her throat and ever since then she didn't eat properly anymore.
This week she came into heat out of the blue and now she eats again even though on Saturday the vet who stepped in for our usual one said she wouldn't make this week. Saturday was really awful.

oh, no! she seemed like she was doing so amazingly well! it happened like that with my baby, too (though I lost him within a month of his being diagnosed). It was odd, I thought I saw him out of the corner of my eye in the apartment last night. They really insert their furry little selves into our hearts! *hugs*

She is better now. I don't know if it is because of her heat or whatnot, but so far she has been amazingly like herself. :)

Absolutely, and it is taking its toll physically as well. Now that everything is better I'm down with a cold again. I never have a cold twice in such a short time. I guess less sleep, less eating and drinking but more worrying and staying up during the night took a lot out of me these past three weeks.

Oh, I'm sure it's stress. I swear I was sick to my stomach for the last few weeks of Sunny's life - he would get better and then get worse, and I'd be waiting nervously to see if he would respond to treatment. It was so hard. I knew his sickness would take him eventually, but it still wasn't easy. I got a whole extra year of good quality time with him though, for the time he responded to the chemo he was on - and it was extra precious because of it. I think I appreciated him more that year than ever before. But not easy.

Well she is feeling much better now ... if this is the last up before it goes all the way down, I don't know. But I enjoy every single second with her :)
