Rewatched Dil Se last night again and I'm always in awe of the music by AR Rahman.

From the delightful and light Chaiya Chaiya to the very disturbingly beautiful Satrangi Re to Dil Se Re... not only does the music fit, the picturization in some of these are just perfect.

Chaiya Chaiya

Satrangi Re

Dil Se Re...

Additionally, the movie though disturbing is one of the best movies to come from Bollywood. Its director Mani Ratnam was following the "7 Stages of Love" from beginning to end, and in such disturbing and bhauntingly beautiful cinematography it makes you weep. And Shah Rukh Khan is good in this movie, and I love Manisha Koirala!

Funny you should say this now - I bought Dil Se the last time I was in Hanover, a real bargain for 5,99 € including a bonus DVD with a documentary on Hindi film music. AR Rahman is featured on there too, and ever since then I've been thinking about buying Taal because the music sounds so amazing. Dil Se when I first saw it in the cinema was quite disturbing indeed, though I've come to love it in the meantime . And of course, it has 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'! ;)

HAHHA! I think Dil Se was the first ever Bollywood film I ever saw! I remember being SOOO confused by the musical numbers at first ("did a new movie start? is something wrong with the DVD?"), but came to love them. I adore AR Rahman as well, amazing music!
