Watched Mr And Mrs Iyer tonight and it was a very moving film about love. Not your usual fare of Bollywood, no big stars, no songs, but nevertheless a deeply moving film about love, in the most deepest and purest level.
Anyone not into Hindi or Tamil or Bengali movies should at least give this one a try. It is beautiful and sad and uplifting at the same time.

This is one of the best movies I've seen. It's so moving, so understated, and so passionate. I love when she falls asleep holding his hand and when she wakes up he is still holding it.

The end makes me grrrrr!

Other than the real Mr. Iyer dying instantly of heart attack at the main station I don't see how they could have gotten together, esp. as she was Hindu and he Muslim. Even though we both know these marriages do exist and work out, in the situation of the movie, it wouldn't work.
Raja and Meena are married ... just not in the real world but in their minds, which I found very endearing. Her asking if he was at the treehouse alone and him asking back, that this was their honeymoon.

The movie gave me another glimpse of the Indian caste system though. Meena was prepared to kiss him (on the train) but the following day she still could not *share* a water bottle with him. Kinda sad.
