scottishlass: (Chica Run)

When I woke up this morning at 5 AM I came up with heart racing and a feeling of fear. I had dreamt about storm floods. Huge waves of water crashing into my home town, and me in the midst of it with Chica on the leash (I had her strapped to my body, so I won't loose her). When I went to sleep again after a trip to the kitchen to get a glass of water, I continued to dream about this. *shudders*
Don't get me wrong, I love water. Floods and high waves don't scare me, nor do dead bodies floating in water after my stint as DLRG diver in the 1990's where we had to recover dead bodies from ponds, lakes and rivers, but this really was weird. In my dream I was more scared for Chica than for myself.

Today it is still warm but raining. It is such a strange thing to sit on the balcony, under the parasol in the warm air and rains keeps pounding down, with the occasional thunderstorm in the distance. I have been using my new sewing machine all morning and I love that machine. It is a bit different to my old one, and I still have problems with free quilting, but every thing else works beautifully and she is sooooooooo quiet. I can sew well into the night with this one without waking the neighbours.

Little update on my sewing:
- Sakura tote bag : bottom and straps still in progress, embellishments are already sewed on
- green pelisse : back is ready, still have to cut out the skirt-like front and back (hand sewing)
- brown turn of the century Eton Jacket : only sleeves have to be fitted and sewn in, lining and collar are finished.

Oh my... what a scary nightmare. :( When we see something dangerous or deperessing in sleep this always drain emotionally so much. Hope this doesn't happen too often to you.

It doesn't happen too often. I do have warning dreams though. Must be the Celtic blood or something. My great-grandmother had them too and I have been experiencing them also in the course of the last 39 years.

Glad to know this doesn't happen often, They could be so disturbing...

Must be the Celtic blood
Yeah, may be. :)Celtics were well known for this gift, ne? I was crazy about Celtic culture in my young days, read a lot of books on the topic...

3 - 4 times in my life I also had "meaningful" dreams - warning or prophetic. But almost all of them happened when I myself was in very stressful emotional conditions.

My great-grandmother as well as her sisters and her mother were all what you could call as seers. In me it isn't so well established though I can read cards and almost always am spot on. My meaningful dreams have been mostly scary and a warning sign most of the time.
It is strange though that something like this exists. In university I had a really hard time believing all this, but nowadays I have accepted it. Perhaps in our family our senses are much more attuned, I don't know. My cousin Con had a dream once (which he had shared with half of his family at that night, me included) where he crashlanded his jet. If he hadn't been warned and at that day hadn't he thought about the dream and checked everything, he could have died. He told us later that he would have never been so careful about his gauges and everything if it hadn't been for his dream.
This way he only had a rough landing instead of crashing.

Oh, you have an interesting inheritance! Now I can tell my friends that I know a Celtic sibyl. :D

I confess that for me this kind of "meaning" dreams is very annoying and scaring, and I'm quite happy that they come to me VERY rarely - because almost all of them were about me, meeting and communicating in my dream with people who were dead already, or about soon death of someone. This is quite depressing.

Jeez, what a nightmare. I am scared of water, i.e. too much of it. Maybe I drowned in a previous life, *shrug*, I just know that masses of water make me feel quite uncomfortable.
