OMG - Korean dorama squee
Jul. 12th, 2007 03:18 amI just love, love LOVE Coffee Prince!
So what is the dorama about? The main characters are four people, a former couple, Han Seong (Lee Seon Gyeon) and Yoo-Yu (Chae Jung-Ahn, and good for nothing rich Han Kuyl (Gong Yoo) and tomboy Eun-chan (Yoon Eun-hye).
Han Seong and Yoo-Yu were a couple two years ago, but to advance her career as a painter, she left Han Seong to be the girlfriend of another famous painter in the States. Devastated, Han Seong lives with his dog in the countryside and works on his music (he is a music producer). Han Seong and Han Kuyl are brothers but while one is heart-broken but successful in business, the other, Han Kuyl is a womanizer but a failure with his business ventures.
While Han Kyul is secretly in love with Yoo-Yu he tries to avoid the marriage schemes of his mother and grandmother. By chance he meets Eun-chan who he mistakes as a boy. He hires her to play his gay lover, to get out of the wedding omais his female relatives have set up. After he swarts another marriage attempt, his grandmother forces Han Kyul to become the manager of a run-down cafe which Eun-chan frequents. They work together and while Eun-chan falls in love with Han Kuyl, he after a time questions his sexual orientation, as he only feels trully happy and content when he is together with Eun-chan...
So far so good! The series is set in Seoul with the usual second OTP and some evil/bratty mother/sister thrown in. Watched two eps. now, and I wish I had the whole drama already so I could watch it the whole night. Really a nice little jewel :)

Date: 2007-08-01 04:37 am (UTC)It was a really good two episodes. Very touching!! I never watch raw episodes but Coffee Prince sure broke that rule of mine. :P Dramabeans does a good summary as well. I've been watching the raws and reading her summary side by side:http://www.dramabeans.com/

Date: 2007-08-01 06:57 am (UTC)The only time I watch RAW is when it is a Kimutaku dorama, esp. as almost all of his early ones are not subbed, but CP really grabs me. Can't wait for next Monday either, now Mondays are doubly exicting: New SMAPxSMAP ep AND Coffee Prince coming out :)

Date: 2007-08-01 08:32 am (UTC)We both make the exception for JE. :) I make the exception for Arashi. I watch their 2 weekly variety shows raw and probably anything else that looks interesting. Though other than that it's my first time for a drama. :) Now I'm tempted to read the translation for episode 10 but i'm bit spoiler chicken..

Date: 2007-08-01 09:08 am (UTC)As for the exception - true ... I guess J-boys have that kind of effect. Do you know that except for about 6 eps I have ALL SmaSma eps of 1996? And the following years look about the same for the exception of years 2004 and 2005 where I have only a handful of eps. Atm I'm trying to get all eps of 2006 together. And they are almost all RAW *slaps palm to head*
I also watched all early doramas of Kimura RAW, like Otouto, Hajimete no Natsu, Isu no Odorikko. Baka, ne? :)
