scottishlass: (Sewing 02)

After almost five days of re-decorating, my space where I type, sew and just hang out is finally ready. The dining table with the four chairs was once at another side of the room but as the huge leather sofa has moved now I can keep my sewing and everything in one space.

As you can see there are a lot of photos up on my wall, my great-grandparents, my great-great-grandparents as well as Chica and Cenour together on one sofa (a small feat that is) :)

I'm glad we have finished re-decorating, though I would have preferred to re-do the walls as well. In the pics the walls look lavender but actually they are more yellow with a touch of lavender after almost 8 years of living here :(

I saw a wonderful house that was up for rent - unfortunately no dogs allowed. But I want to share the pics, as it is almost as near to my dream house as it possibly can get :)

The countryside and house

The atelier ... would have been wonderful for sewing and stuff

The garden

Thia kind of mess on a computer table seems to me quite normal. Usual thing for myself. =) And the room itself looks pretty nice.

If to speak about the house in the countryside... ah, they almost always look so peaceful and picturesque. Always dreamed to live in the countryside, but never will, I suppose. ;)

:) I had thought that cleaning up and straightening out would keep a bit ... but now only 2 hours after cleaning up my desk looked like this again :)

You know, we can't afford to buy a house as well so we are looking into renting a house. Also it shouldn't be too expensive and not too far away from the city. :s So it will never come to pass with the rents so high over here :(

Well... you know, we have a small house in the countryside, near Moscow... But this is not a solid building, but just a very small wooden "dacha" house, adjusted for it is possible to live there in winter, too. But from all the benefits of civilization there are only electricity and telephone there. Water is from the well, toilet outside ets.

In the last 10 years there were built a lot of quite comfortable cottage localities in countryside, but we a re not rich enough to purchase or rent a house there... So wee keep our "dacha". Anyway, my mom (who's pensioner already) after retirement lives there year-round. She said she's fed up with pollution and noise of huge city and prefer village live. But I'm corrupted by civilization - yeah, I want to live in the countryside, but I want warm toilet and a shower with hot water at the same time. ;)

Yeah that is what I ask for too ... indoors toilet and shower plus internet connection :) I could live without heating though, in my old flat I still had two fireplaces. One with a build in oven, the other open. It was wonderful and really nicely warm. You just had to keep in mind a few fire-safety rules and know how to kindle a fire.

No worries :)
As for the desk ... it looks even messier now since last night. It seems to have morphed into a dogs' medicine holding cabinet and sewing table :)

wow! it looks so beautiful and lovely and quaint and European!!! Sigh... I miss hardwood floors! All over California seems like almost everyone has carpeting, blech! Once the dog is housebroken and I figure out what I'm doing with my career I think I'll look for a place with hardwood again!

oops, excuse my blathering! looks great, though, good job!

I love hardwood floors, be them old or new (like ours).
I'd rather have a daily swipe through the apartment than doing the vacuuming. Besides, Chica hates the vacuuming and thinks it is a huge red dragon who wants to harm her :)
What I can't understand that in the US almost everything about a house is made out of wood (the walls etc.) but they insist on having wall to wall carpeting. There is nothing more wonderful than feeling a well-finished hardwood floor under your feet :)

sigh... you're making me miss the hardwood floors even more! ahha! My apartments in Chicago all had hardwood, that was the norm there. I think most of the places in San Diego were either too cheap to put in the wood floors, or were built at a time when it wasn't fashionable (for some reason). There ARE some older places that have them, so I'll definitely be looking for something like that in the future. I hate the carpeting! It's ugly and it just traps all the dirt!

:(
I would never move into an apartment with carpets again. I have a heavy sinus case and I'd rather clean with a mop and bucket than with a vacuumer or sweeper where all the crap goes back into the air :(

I also have a big allergy to dust so technically, I probably SHOULDN'T have carpeting! Add it to my list of 'wants' for the next place I live! I really HATE vacuuming! at least with hardwood you can see the dirt and know if you're cleaning it up!

It is in Heiligenhaus which is a bit outside of DĂŒsseldorf. They had some Mietnomaden in there and the Hof itself has three living units over two floors plus the atelier and the garden can be used by all. It would have been perfect but as their former renters had dogs that pooped into the garden exessively, they don't want any dogs anymore.
Additionally, the house needs a lot of repairs but that wouldn't have been a problem - I have done it with my old flat before I moved into a new flat with Olly. And we would have had a stable and meadow for horses and other stuff.

I think your re-decorated space is beautifully done :) And no, your computer desk is not a bomb at all!! As for the country house - OMG. So wonderful. I'd love to live in such a peaceful surrounding as that! ***dream on Dian, LOL***

Yeah HIs Hubbiness™ and I wanted to live in such surroundings. Unfortunately, the landlord has something against dogs so we had to decline moving there. I doubt I will ever have such a garden as this one to call my own :(

you have a nice living room and a totally awesome garden ! I love your garden ! reminds me of some German series I used to watch when I was a child...

Unfortunately, this is not my garden. It belongs to a house my husband and I wanted to rent but the landlord did not allow any dogs. :(

Do you still remember which series that was? Don't tell me it was the Schwarzwald Klinik (Black Forest Clinic)? ;)

No, it was not Schwarzwald Klinik; actually I don't remember the name. It was a series for children. The story was about a carpenter and a tiny cartoon character with orange hair who lived with him and he was the only one who could see and talk to this funny creature.

I guess a lot can be said about the person whose computer area you see :)

Yeah the house is beautiful, and we would have moved in there but for the landlord's aversion to dogs :(
