Only a few of you on flist know of the wonders of Ros na Rún, an Irish language soap opera which runs on TnaG. [...]
Now if you like skullduggery, evil pub owners (Tadhg, the monstrous owner of the local pub is wonder to behold in backstabbing action), lovelorn priests, mercy killings, sort of incestuous love, brewing of illegal liquors, and other fine things then this is the show for you! It is filmed in the west of Ireland, in Spiddal (quite a lovely place! Though not as lovely as northern Donegal,* of course).
Here's the link to the wikipedia entry, which also gives you a run down on some of the more thrilling plots. It is subtitled and is available in streaming video from TnaG, the Irish language TV station.
Now I know what I will be watching from now on, I really need to brush up my Gaelic again. I just hope I won't completely mix up Japanese and Gaelic now :)

Date: 2007-06-29 08:26 am (UTC)I lack a lot of vocabulary and watching such a show, even though it is Irish Gaelic, will hopefully remedy that fact. Besides, a friend of mine visits me every other week, so I can teach her Gaelic, and I was slowly running out of words :)
