.. are SMAP concert DVDs so damn expensive? Wanted to buy Drink SMAP and pamS but I can't dish out over 70 Dollars for one concert. His Hubbiness™ would kill me :(
But I so want to watch those two concerts ... after buying Pop Up Bang, Birdman and MIJ and watching them all innumerous time I want some new drug :)

Anyone know where I could download these two concerts from?

Their Sample Tour DVD (+ La Festa CD) I'm waiting for now, cost me more than 90 bucks. Grrr... This is a robbery!

More over... May be this thought will sound strange for you, but I'm not so happy with a idea that purchasing these JE stuff, I only engross already mammoth bank accounts of this greedy and dirty old pervert, Kitigava...

I know what you mean :( Us purchasing SMAP stuff makes only Kitigawa richer. But on the other hand it shows him that SMAP is still *hot* and he is not disbanding them (hopefully anytime soon).

Serge told me in the mid of week that he had some problems with downloading from that place for some days in a row. It suddenly stopped to work - why, he didn't know. But till that moment he managed to download all films and started to download some documentary stuff.

I don't know any last updated of the situation, because on week-ends Serge's at his "dacha" in the country side, so I'm not in contact with him. But you may write to him and ask - he'll be back in the city on Monday. Also , who knows, he may check his e-mails in the country side too, if he took his laptop with him. He will explain the situation better that I can.

BTW, didn't you check this ftp (direct)? It seemed to me, that he gave you a direct link, too, if you got already Ototo (it seems you told me that you've done it - or am I wrong?)

And I'm doing now a very pleasant job - translation of "Bushi" Of course, watching it again scene by scene in a process. Now I'm at the hotaru scene. Of, I love it so much... it's so beautiful, sad and poetic.

He-he... In such situations there was only one thing that could help me in my struggle - I thought that other folk is waiting for it, wanting to watch another stuff with my dear Kimura-kun. This thought gave me some courage to go on. :D

But if to speak seriously, I think that I will finish "Bushi" translation in 2-3 days. After it I can help you with Gift-6, if you want.

You only need two free for download programmes. Let me know if you want to learn how to rip (for anything but nefarious reasons ;))

Okay first of all you'll need DVD Decrypter ( a friend of mine uploaded it to MU here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4JV0JBU0)

Install the programme, put a DVD you want to rip into your DVD drive and run DVD Decrypter.
First you'll see in the top left corner a button called "source" where you select the drive you've put the disc in that you want to rip.
Then directly under that in the box marked "destination", select the location where you want the ripped files saved.

Click the big picture of the arrow pointing from a disc to a rectangular little HD and the programme starts ripping. Just ignore the whole thing for 15-20 minutes (depending on the length of the episode/movie etc. it can take longer) and when it's finished it will play some weird tune and a pop-up will appear letting you know the rip was successful.
Close DVD Decrypter. Now you have all those weird .vob files which you need to convert into .avi to play properly.

Download Auto Gordian Knot (http://www.autogk.me.uk/) (download a full version and avoid any betas) and install the programme.

Before you run the programme make sure you don't have anything to do after you start Auto GK, best time for this is shortly before you go to bed. So Auto GK can convert the files while you sleep.
If by any chance you'll get an error message mentioning something like missing codecs or you need to download DivX, then go to this site and download the codecs for both DivX and Xvid only. Xvidmovies (http://www.xvidmovies.com/)

Open Auto GK and look for a tab called "input file", select the file named "VTS_01_0".
For the "output file" select a folder where you want to have the new files.
There will be a window with audio files, make sure to check the one you want. Same with subtitles... (This program will hard-sub the subtitles, for example, if the dvd was Japanese and it offers Chinese and English subtitles, then if you select English, the English subtitles will become a permanent part of the final .avi file.)
Choose the file size you want. For most movies the standard you choose is the "2cd(1400MB)" option, you'll get a super great picture, but your movie will be divided into two parts. OR you can select the "custom MB" option and select the size you want.
You can ignore the "advanced settings" though if you have more time on your hands you can start playing with the settings.
Click the "add job" button, then click start.
Go to bed :D

Once you get up again the next morning, check your destination folder and there, a shiny new .avi file will be waiting for you. Test it in whatever media player you use for .avi files.
If it plays well and you're happy with the quality, then go in and delete all those other files taking up loads of space on your HD. There will be all kinds of little log files too... delete them, they're worthless. (...just delete everything except the final .avi file)
You have successfully ripped a DVD.

smap dvds are really expensive! but in general Japanese dvds are quite expensive anyway.

I've seen in the comments you got another one to watch thanks to barefootatkheb.

I've seen concerts for dl in jpopsuki, but don't know if they have them right now.

I've spent the money and have them all (the ones that have been released til now) but don't know how to rip dvds or anything. I saw your intructions in the previous comments and I should I try it, but don't know why it's something I always think is too difficult :S

Right now I'm a bit busy but if you can't find any of them anywhere, tell me and I'll try. Maybe it's easier than I think ;)

JPopsuki did indeed have several rips, but these are all from concerts I did buy myself *LOL*

I got the Drink SMAP! from barefootatkheb to tie me over but of course as soon as I have the 78 USD + shipping I will be buying the original DVD.

Ripping a DVD is as easy as I described. You just need a night for the encoding, where your PC doesn't do anything else than encoding (because it takes up so much temporary memory space). I'm still looking for the Urasmap concert. I didn't even find it on yesasia and on ebay only a VHS tape version is available :s

I'm quite bad with the different names. Which one is the Urasmap? Do you know the year? Is that the one in black and pink? The concert without Goro? If that's the one. You HAVE to watch it!!! ;)

It took me a while to get them all (because I had to save to spend the money in the dvds but I got all that yesasia had available two or three years ago.

For your explanation about the encoding, I also need space in my harddrive... that is something I have to get too :P

Btw, I have a problem with Stay Gold episode 2 disk. My computer can't read part of the files... I'm trying to figure out a way to get it.

Yep Urasmap is the black/pink without Goro one.

I have the same problem .. no space on my hard drive ... I need to burn DVDs again to free up some space :)

Take your time with Stay Gold, I haven't had time yet to watch ep1 (I want to translate the Korean subs first).

That one was the first smap concert dvd I got and it was at ebay. Takuya is fabulous there, especially when he sings HA ;)

Will do my best to give it a try if nobody else offers (I'm saying this because if somebody has it, it will be faster for you to watch it) because I really enjoy that concert.

Maybe we have some days of holidays and I'll be reading Harry Potter book from Saturday until I finish it, so I won't be able to try in the following days. Sorry.
