Scary Moment ...
May. 17th, 2007 04:59 amJeesh ... this evening and night I will never forget.
As I had said before, Chica had surgery day before yesterday and had an eye sewn shut. Well, Miss Little Terror Terrier managed somehow to rip the threads (the knots were still pristine) last night and she was looking at us with both her brown eyes. *sigh*
It was shortly before ten in the evening but we had to inform our vet and he immediately said, that's not good. To keep a long story short, we hauled Chica over to the vet (good thing he only lives five minutes away) and the threads were removed and it was newly sewn. And who had to assist? Yeah ... me. His Hubbiness chickened out and as the normal vet assistant comes from a town a couple of kilometers away, I had to step in.
I can savely say I did so professionally, and only when we returned home my knees went weak :)
Gosh, please, I really don't want to do that EVER AGAIN!!

Date: 2007-05-17 09:37 pm (UTC)I remember, once when my ancle-in-low cut his head (nothing serious, just a scratch, but with a lot of blood) I almost fainted at a spot. ;) I'm not afraid of my own blood, but at others - I can't stand it.

Date: 2007-05-17 09:50 pm (UTC)I even attended a post mortem when our medical department at uni still offered public post mortems on Information Days. But to see Chica lying there under sedation ... I was really feeling sick afterwards.

Date: 2007-05-18 04:56 pm (UTC)What is strange though ... now that the weaker eye has to do all the job, it is actually getting better, she can walk straight, doesn't run into things too much, only her depth vision is probably gone in her left eye.
Hopefully, she will have a good eye sight for years to come from ths one surgery.
