scottishlass: (Sewing Christmas)
One of the most wonderful things about our new house, beside having much more space and a huge garden, is the fact that I can decorate our little house with lots of seasonal trappings.

Our front door

This wreath has accompanied me throughout the years. I made it way back when I moved into my first own apartment. Since then almost 20 years have gone by and this little wreath is still there. I love continuity.

Sorry, bad photography :) As I had to cut the cherry tree, I re-used one of its branches as a Yule-log. I added candy canes, dried Orange slices and apples and it now hangs across my kitchen window.

There is more, especially outside, but my camera stopped working due to the cold LOL

There are not a lot of people that impress me all the way ... body, spirit, soul.
Watching an interview with Yoel Gamzou, conductor and composer, this young guy left me both inspired and impressed.

„Meine Regel lautet: Lebe so, dass du morgen sterben könntest – restlos zufrieden mit dem, was du gemacht hast.“ Yoel Gamzou

My rule is as follows: Live life in such a way that if you died tomorrow, you'd be completely content with the things you have done.

Yoel is a wunderkind. When he was seven, he was introduced to the musical work of Gustav Mahler. He become obsessed and music, esp. Mahler's, became his calling. He finished high school when he was 14, and with 15 he went to New York to study music. He is now 23 and master conductor of the Munich Symphoniker and also finished Mahler's 10th Unfinished Symphony.

With his talent and passion he sort of reminds me of Leonard Bernstein. I hope his future career will lead him to even greater heights and more success.
