Bollywood dreams come true?
Apr. 21st, 2007 03:24 amMay one say Wedding of the century?
Abhishek Bachchan and Ashwaria Rai were married this Friday in the traditional way with the groom riding on a white stallion to the wedding tent with his friends dancing to Bollywood tunes.
Is that tacky or what? But then objectively almost anything about Bollywood is tacky in one way or the other :) I wish the newly weds all happiness, because judging from the not too happy faces of both Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, they are going to need it. I guess Big B is still pissed off that his son didn't marry Rani Mukherjee instead of ex-Miss World Rai.
Oh well. :D

Date: 2007-04-21 09:36 am (UTC)I was a big fan of Blliwood in my teens, and Amitabh Bachchan was my absolute favorite at that time. :) Handsome man who knew how to act.
Later I leaved this field - and now only re-watch some Bolliwood films of 70-s - early 80-s sometimes, if they are aired on TV. But I'm glad to know that Mr. Bachchan is OK and even has a grown-up son... Who's an actor himself, as I understand?

Date: 2007-04-21 10:10 am (UTC)Amitabh was a good actor and he is like the godfather of actors in India and overseas. I loved him in Zaher and also in Mili (together with his wife Jaya) - in his recent movies I really liked him in Paheli from two years ago but when he plays those stern father types he is hamming always a bit, like in Kabhi Khushi Khabie Gham.
Although he is my favourite from the 70's and 80's I really like Shah Rukh Khan who started out as a villain in the early 90's and has since then become THE romantic lead in Bollywood. If you have the chance watch out for DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jeyange) with Kajol. it is my all time favourite movie from Bollywood but also with SRK and Kajol.
Yes, Abhihek is very talented and fortunately, has inherited the dancing from his mom Jaya. He has been in some very good movies lately, like Yuva (his first movie), Dhoom, Bunty aur Babli and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

Date: 2007-04-23 05:59 am (UTC)I don't follow Bollywood gossip much (though I would like to do so more), but as for Rani: oh my gosh, that reminds me so much of those scenes from K3G - how Yash acts around Naina. I've always found that quite disgusting. Of course, he wants her to be his daughter-in-law in the film, but the way he acts around her, it looks like so much more. Eurgh.
