Just saw BLACK with Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan.
It was a very moving movie, different to what I had expected with all the Helen Keller references that had been made about this movie. Of course the Helen Keller parallels were there but it can stand very well on its on.
I was very impressed with Rani Mukherjee, who of course cannot hide her natural Bengali beauti but tried to give Michelle her best shot, and she did. I think this actress has become my #1 favourite Indian actress, and that is saying a lot :)
Amitabh Bachchan also very much impressed me, he showed me that even though he says he is only playing character roles now (and in this very sad almost yearning voice) but he was the star - the hero - of this movie. His acting has very much improved in his age, not saying he was never a good actor, but here in BLACK he showed that he can take it up with any of the big Hollywood bigwigs any day. And he gets to kiss the girl ;-) Even though it is only in a platonic way.
It is not a movie I would recommend if you are feeling down ... even though it is a very uplifting movie. But because it is so heart-rendering and sad to see Amit-ji old and wrinkled and ridden with Alzheimer at the end of the movie. He WAS this sick old man ... it was amazing.
Sanjay Bhensali did a very good job in directing and I hope I will see more of his films in the future (even Devdas, if I can ignore the fact it has Ashwariya Rai in it).

Yep, I have a certain appreciation for Rani now ... and she is a good actress that unfortunatel is highly underused esp. in the Johar/Chopra/Khan circle. I have high hopes for the new PAHELI where she plays Lachchi.

I will add give you a shout as soon as I get on AIM :)
