When film studios suffer from hybris ...
Nov. 20th, 2006 10:16 amThis article sure shows how New Line think the greatness that is LOTR is coming from ... not from the dedicated team around Jackson/Walsh that's for sure.
Upon reading this I can't understand how studio bosses can be so stupid (okay, they can be but it is still an enigma to me and I have only found such stupidity with TV studio bosses so far and not movies *cough*Fox, SciFi*cough*).
Studios still think that by using a good director and a good production team they also make a good film. WRONG! Without the dedication and living and breathing of Peter Jackson and Veta etc. LOTR would have never been so wonderful as it is. A different director will bring a different approach to The Hobbit and the undisclosed prequel (Are they thinking about making Silmarillion???)
ARGH!!! I'm boykotting The Hobbit if any other than Peter Jackson is doing it.

Date: 2006-11-20 05:20 pm (UTC)I am staying away from this if PJ is not doing it.
The Hobbit had the potential to be fraught with disaster anyway (expectations in the wake of LOTR, difference in tone between it and LOTR. All those dwarves :P) but I thought PJ could do a great job with it, if anyone could.
But with a different director? Hello disaster.
New Line, I am sorry. you just screwed up big time. The only reason LOTR worked, against all odds, was because of PJ and the team. Buh-bye any hope for The Hobbit doing the same.
ARGH.
