Sewing Update
Jun. 28th, 2006 11:35 pmOkay, here are the dresses I have finished over the last two months - both dresses are handsewn and I used a mix of Rocking Horse Farm and Janet Arnold patterns.
Palm dress:
I got about 5 yards of this green coloured cotton from Heritage Trading with printed green and gold palm leaves and I wanted to make a dress from it for a Christmas party Anno 1805. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the party but nevertheless here is the dress - I added a little old gold posamentary border to the sleeves and around the waist:
The print:

The inspiration:

I love the half-sleeves on Elizabeth Bennet's dress, and this style looks okay on me.
The realisation:

The result:

sorry for the poor quality, it was taken with a cell phone camera.
Fleur Indienne Dress
I got about 5 yards of this white cotton from Heritage Trading with printed little sprigs of red and blue flowers. The dress has been made for a picknick that will be held next week. I still have to attach the skirt, but that will be done in the morning.
