Oh shucks ...

Life has been quite busy here with work piled up to my armpits :) No time to rest, sit down and write an entry while sipping on a cup of tea.
I'm so far off any seasonal mood right now, I don't know if I can capture any cheery Christmassy mood any time soon, which is so sad. I REALLY do enjoy this time of the year, esp. as it reminds me of my time with my great-grandparents and how we passed Christmas time. Christmas for us always was a wild conglomeration of different traditions from different countries rolled into something so uniquely our own, it always came to a shock to me when I experienced Christmas from other families. I don't know how many times I have embarrassed myself for not knowing the procedures of a proper German Christmas, or any other special season for that matter.
At home, we had a Yule log, a Christmas tree and holly and ivy everywhere. We had candles lit up over Hanukkah, made ourselves comfortable over scones and cookies and matzen while other German families celebrated Advent in a very different manner. Still, it was a magical time, a wonderous time.
So today, I have been running around, on the phone, walked the dogs and the little precious time I had I sat down and learned some Japanese. I'm so exceedingly proud of myself to actually do this. Yuriko, my tandem partner is nice and she always tries to shun her German lessons, but even though I'm also eager to learn more Japanese, I make her do German stuff first. :)
