Peacekeeper Wars ... how I love thee ...
Feb. 1st, 2006 08:09 amYou know I was not very enthusiastic about having The Peacekeeper Wars on German TV. Why? Because Farscape was only shown for the first two seasons on free TV and that was 4 years ago. So who would actually a) tune into the PKW and b) would make hand or foot of it?
I have seen non-Scaper ppl already comparing it with Serenity and what a rip-off PKW is ... HELLOOO????
Oh well whatever. Just let me gush a wee bit about Farscape and why I love this damn show:
the characters - Good God, even in the first season the characters were already rounded and it is a pleasure but also a shock to watch first season John and Aeryn and fifth season John and Aeryn (or Chi and D'Argo for that)I don't thínk I have seen such character development in any show to date. And yes John and Aeryn have come a long way ... from the innocent/unknowing scientist and ignorant soldier to the tough, war-beaten and toughened space-jock and the loving, tough yet touching soldier.
the story - I know I know ... the premise of the story has been seen in various stages in other sci fi series' as well but Kemper and Henson gave the whole thing a twist .. even now, after so many years, they have me in tears. They have me laughing so hard one minute only to have me crying like a babe and shouting at the TV the next. Even if I didn't like complete episodes because it was too painful to watch, these eps were brilliant because they furthered the story and the character development. Pure Genius.
the leather - so much leather in costumes and props. So much leather you will not find in a Viking/Medieval flick :) And if I talk about leather I also have to mention cute male butt clad in leather *Le Sigh*
All in all, after having watched Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars (and badly dubbed at that) I have gotten out all my FS seasons and will watch it again ep per ep. I miss that show.
