Yes, it is doable. I did so on Saturday. Of course, I had all the time in the world to just sit down and do it over a course of several weeks, but nay, I was lazy, got distracted by my SIMS and of course on Saturday afternoon we had another little get-together with the Regency/Napoleonic Club I''m a member of.
I had muslin ready and no pattern, so I browsed the net on Friday night and found this silk dress plus fitting pelisse and knew, this is what I want.
So I got my duct-tape dummy out of the closet and started draping. I had a rudimentary pattern inside my head and only so little muslin (real muslin) so my sleeves were made from cotton batiste. I draped, cut into shape, put it together on the dummy and already sew it together. I started at 10:30 in the morning and was finished at about 16:00 hours, right about ready to wear it for the evening bash :)
I will put up pictures on my sewing diary page soon.
