A year in retrospect
Dec. 12th, 2005 08:11 amSo yes, the year is not over yet but I want to get it out of the way before the Christmas rush gets any crazier.
What did I accomplish for this year? Did I lose someone close to my family? Did I make new friends?
Well, first off the most important thing in my life this year is, that I didn't find any lumps in my breasts and my health is getting better and better. I feel better all in all.
Even though I have more strength compared to a year ago, I have noticed I lack mental strength. I have become more impatient, more irrate with ppl and esp. with my pupils. I don't abide to laziness and stupidity anymore. I guess that also comes from being submitted to cancer. I know how short life can be and I don't have any understanding whatsoever if ppl just fritter it away.
But I found new friends, which is a huge accomplishment.
Early this year my grandfather died, and even though I was somewhat close to him as a child, as a teenager and later as an adult we didn't have much in common and also not much to say to each other - which is a pity, but couldn't be helped.
This year I made a lot of new friends which is a godsend as I lost a lot of off-line friends due to my cancer and I was alone most of the time. Earlier this year I met the folks from the Nähtreff - those folks are fun to be with and I love them all to pieces. *waves at Tina, Nanny, Frank & Becky*
I also met Sabine via Masala filmi and WOW we hit it off just right - *viele Knuddels an Sabine*
Then there were the real life encounters with
elfnut and
koellegirl - two wonderful women on- and off-line - I love you two.
What else did happen in 2005?
I picked up sewing again and also picked up on my love for nice living and old furniture again. Heck all things old - I guess during my illness, I couldn't stand all the old things around me as I always thought I would be too sick to properly take care of things. My wake up call was when I broke two old glasses of my great-grandmother's and Olly bought me four new (old) glasses of the same design only yesterday for Christmas. I feel now steady enough not to break or slip things again.
My sewing is still as appalling as it was years ago, but I have my little corner now and will do more work there and perhaps through my sewing friends I will at least pick up some hints and tipps to make it appear nicer and well made *LOL*
What do I want for 2006?
I would like to lose more weight. Now that I don't need to take a whole shitload of medicine anymore, I hope I can slim down a bit. At least I don't need to take that crap cortisone anymore. Amen ot that.
Also one of my big resolutions for 2006 is to move - I want a little house to rent. Preferably pre-war with lots of old shiny furniture and lots of warmth. Although our apartment here is now as we wanted it (after moving in here in 1999 so it took us 6 years) I am ready to move. Only problem for that is Olly, he loves our current lodgings.
Also I want to persue my writing a bit mroe and a whole lot more seriously. Perhaps I can get this litte house via my writing :P
Of course I want to sew more - I need to finish my 1900 outfit as well as several Regency outfits and a Renaissance gown. Nothing new here ;-)
