As I can't stand photos of me in any kind of historic clothing (think beached whale here) I have at least managed to get some pics of recent hats I made:
1. My first bonnet - I used an old strawhat and cut out the backside to make room for the hair ;-) Additionally I used lots and lots of steam to iron the strawhat into the bonnet shape. Then I cleaned the edges and put beige and light-brown satin ties and bands on it.

2. Turn-Of-The-Century Hat - I used an old Laura Ashley hat, that came out in 1987. Its form is that of an old Southwester (the back is stretched out long and down, the front is rolled up), I just put up black ostrich and cocktail feathers, a bit of black lace and added a couple of camelia looking flowers I made out of scraps of white silk and sewn together.

With me under it :)

Today was not a good day, even though we passed the test for keeping a dog, we didn't get Dusky as the ppl who took care of him, want to keep him for themselves now (understandable if you think about the long time they had him now). So we are looking for another dog.
But then I couldn't concentrate on my sewing and I bodged everything. I even ruined a 4 yards of woolen fabric :s So I won't go to the Turn-of-the-century event (only the hat is finished) tomorrow and stay home.
